ESPN - Are JL and the LSU offense good enough to win the BCS?

You have to be an inside to read, but I will summarize it for you:
ESPN has a program called the "Eliminator" that determines whether a team has a shot to win their conference and/or the BCS title based on previous averages of other champions. This article talks about LSU's offense meeting or exceding benchmarks in the BCS race. Currently, JL is above all minimum benchmark for a BCS title-winning QB in the areas that matter. The minimum BCS title-winning QB in the last 7 years posted a 57.9% completion rate, 7.1 YPA, and a 133.6 passer efficiency rating. Ironically, Matt Flynn posted these "minimum" stats in 2007.
Lee is currently completing 67.8% of his passes, has 7.5 YPA, and has an efficiency rating of 144.4. Lee is surpassing Flynn in all of these measurables at the moment. The average BCS winning QB of the last 7 years has a completion percentage of 63.3, a YPA of 8.5, and an efficiency rating of 156.0. Lee is above average in 1 of these categories. All told, the "Eliminator" program does not think Lee detracts from LSU's chances of winning it all.
Ironically, and I found this very interesting since it is our "strength", our running game is not currently clearing the minimum benchmark for previous BCS winners. It was oddly refreshing to read an unbiased article about LSU's offense that said we throw it well enough, but we are not running it well enough.

Needs to account for defense as well, that would be very telling. A shitty offense can survive with a talented defensive counterpart.

Right now, no. But they aren't far behind, and JL looked great the other night. If he continues to improve over the season a bit more and the offense can finish drives, then yes.

How many games last year did Lee win for LSU that JJ got credit for.
Wish JJ all good in the future, however, as stated before, JJ is a great "practice QB" but in a tight game....looks like a deer in the head lights.....
GO MR. LEE

this whole "is the offense good enough" thing is driving me insane. it proves the media is filled with idiots who do no research on their own or even watch the games, they just parrot what other media idiots say.
LSU has averaged 36 points a game
Oklahoma has averaged 35 points a game.
bama has averaged 38 points a game.
how are the other two on track to win a title yet LSU is somehow flirting with disaster?

That 2007 Team was the highest scoring team in LSU history.

Because they're stacking the box against the run and selling out against it. Unfortunately for them, teams are going to need to respect Lee now. So, the running should open up if Lee keeps throwing like he is. They're selling out making Lee beat them with his arm and he is. That is why the games are starting to get pulled away in the second half.

Defense and special Teams play would go a ways in making up for flashy O numbers

this would make me question the entire article. this teams rushing attack is as good as we have had in a long time

Not sure anyone is saying that.
The "Eliminator" is a neat program. It just eliminates teams that are not projected to meet the minimum statistics that past BCS teams have had. Most times, it is right and it finds a flaw in a team statistically before that flaw materializes on the scoreboard. Sometimes, it is wrong, as was the case last year with Auburn. Statistically, Auburn's defense was the worst pass defense in BCS Champion history. Take it with a grain of salt, but it is interesting that JL IS meeting the minimums and our running game is not.

This article was entitle: Myth 1: Jarrett Lee and the LSU offense are not good enough to win a title.
The article statstically debunked the claim that the media/negatigers/JL haters have

Rushing stats are a lil misleading. Without that botched snap i wonder where we are ranked? This early 10-20 yds could be huge for ur ranking. I think our running game, ford and ware, is just fine.

I wonder if this program would have predicted us to be 11-2 last yr
