Would you still buy a Nikon rifle scope?

Would you still buy a Nikon rifle scope?

I have a Nikon on my current rifle and want to get another one. I like the BDC rectile and want each rifle to have the same glass to limit operator error.

Should I be worried about buying Nikon off Amazon? I know they are getting out of the scope business.

I've searched the internet, but just curious on the OB's thoughts on the issue?

Absolutely. They have always been a great value and the company isn't going anywhere.

Nope.

Posted in another thread that my nephew has a Nikon Black fx1000 that the vertical turret went out on it.

It's a paper weight now.

Likelihood anything happens on a new one is low but it can still happen.

I would buy one if it was discounted enough (50-75%).
I actually bought one last year at academy 65% off and would have bought 5-10 if they would have had them. My attitude was for the price I could just chunk it if something ever happened and still be ahead.
As for Amazon not sure what your chances of getting a fake are that would be my biggest concern.

I'd like to know more about this: Posted in another thread that my nephew has a Nikon Black fx1000 that the vertical turret went out on it. I've got a nikon black 4-16 that Nikon has said they would honor all their lifetime warranties. Did they just deny warranty or specific reason?

Curious as well as I own a couple. They made a statement that they would still honor warranty work just the market segment has gotten too competitive.

It was sent in and sent back with nothing done.

That's about all I know.

I'll double check with him and make sure that's correct. I may have misunderstood or something.

I bought a Pro Staff 3-9x40 for $139 the other day. Will probably sit in my closet til I find a rifle for it. Currently searching for other bargains.

Possible it was damaged with use not covered by warranty?

I recently bought a 3x9-50 Prostaff for $139. Couldn't pass that deal up.

I would still. Sporting optics purchased after November 2019 fall under a different warranty but at least will be warranted until around late 2026.

Info on Nikon Optics warranty

Not a chance. Too many options out there that are just as good for the same price.

Yes, without a doubt. Nikon quality is excellent value at the price.

I'm surprised another company didn't buy it and rebrand it

I picked up a P5 2.5-10x42 for under 140 earlier this year. Right now its just sitting in the safe but for the price I couldn't say no.

Nikon is out of the rifle scope business. My FIL and I had Nikon buckmaster scopes that would not hold a zero. Sent them back, they reported they could not be repaired, and got a credit to their website to buy a rangefinder, spotting scope or binos.

Sure, why not? Odds that it will break are slim. But if it does, Nikon will honor the warranty. No, they won’t fix the scope or give you a new one, but they will give you coupons for new Nikon products. And from what I’ve seen elsewhere, they are being very generous. If your scope breaks, they will basically send you coupons equivalent to full retail at brand new prices. Guys were getting $600 worth of coupons for scopes that were ten years old that they paid $200 for.
