I generally go to far lengths to figure out who the OEM supplier is and try to order whatever I need direct from them. If I can't, I'll order OEM from the best price reputable online source.

I use O’reily because it’s .2 miles from my house.

Whichever one is closest and has what I need. They all sell the same cheap shite just different boxes.
70% of the time its OEM from a trusted online place. 20% rockauto.

Doesn’t really apply to your question but I am very lucky to still have an independently owned auto parts near me. We have Oriley, Auto Zone and Advance Auto which are good if you just need some random item like glass cleaner. But the local owned store actually has old guys working there that actually know about parts and can find a bearing for me without having to explain exactly what it is. These kids at the national chains have no clue how to find something if it is not in the computer.

I usually compare prices between my local Auto Zone or O’Reillys and go that route. A month or so ago, though, I was looking for a thermostat for my wife’s jeep and neither had it in stock and the guy at my local Auto Zone told me to check with All Star Automotive in BR. They had it in stock for less than half the price so I may try that route from now on for more expensive parts. This was a fairly expensive part because of course they don’t sell just the thermostat, you have to buy the whole housing kit with the thermostat and ECT sensor all together

I try to use Rockauto 100% of the time, but if I need something now I tend to go to autozone. It's a little farther away from me but they are the only one in town with self checkout. I used to use Orielly for everything but now it takes forever to get in and out of there. Rockauto prices blow any of them out of the water if it's not an emergency.

I have the perception that Oreillys is better. But I realize that it may only be a perception. Advance Auto and AutoZone stores just have that feel of a cheap, glittery, gimmicky auto section at walmart. Probably just the high ceilings and bright lights.

O’Reilly has a better inventory than Autozone.
I’ve noticed this as well. However, I still go auto zone because it is closer to my house.

O’reily seems to have the most competent employees at the stores I’ve visited.

Online only, the market up on auto parts is ridiculous. Maintenance items only

Oreillys by a mile, every single time I go in they are always helpful, allow tools outside from my existences in tx, la, fl. You go into auto zone or since crap and they don’t really help and almost guaranteed that half the ppl working there have no idea what you’re asking about or what the parts actually for at all just read the computer and go get the part for you that’s all they will do.
Napa is good but only if you order online bc and pick up, they have never been helpful with me, in think they cater to auto shops and big rig stuff and don’t have time to help me if I’m trying to trouble shite something
