What's the most expensive thing you've lost overboard? For me the list includes, a Fortress anchor and rode (forgot to tie it to the boat), countless pairs of sunglasses and hats, a custom bean bag, a really nice folding cushion chair with arms (going way too fast and it blew right out), a landing net (again, going to fast and it blew right out), and a few fillet knifes.

So far, no cell phones, or rods and reels.

Boating is expensive!

A Tarzan model pin ball machine. Turned a little too fast and it fell out, right in the middle of Scenic Hwy. Almost did the same with my Kamado Joe.

A Bersa .380CC. Still sad, I liked that gun & I got it for super cheap, so I can't buy another.

Kayak fishing is what allowed me to buy a boat with all the stuff I dropped.

2x cell phone
3x rod and reel
4x ray ban sunglasses
1x entire tackle box

Since getting the boat I've only lost 1 rod and reel mainly just because I wasn't used to having others on deck with me. So far, the gas cost still hasn't evened out with all the crap I lost on the kayak.

Not me personally but I've seen a Shimano Curado/GLoomis rod jump out of a rod holder over the side while running in some rough water

Jumped in the lake off a boat with a pair of Oakleys on my hat, and remembered about the time I felt them hit my leg on the way to the darkened abyss...

We have a large pond where we sell fishing rights. A few times in my life, we have lowered the level almost completely, and it's very interesting to see... so many trolling motors. Entire boats. Fishing rods. No bodies, yet.

Close but I lost a minn kota powerdrive off the front of my boat 2 springs ago. It was on spot lock and went bezerk swinging at full speed in a 180 degree arc...couldn't turn it off and just as I reached for the plug it broke off and sank like a stone.

I lost a Dawia Tancom 1000, about 1000 feet of 40 pound braid and a custom bent butt roller rod coming back across the gulf stream about 15 years ago. It was on the T-top and I either did not tie it down or it came untied...I never heard it hit anything but I know it was there when we left west end and it wasn't when we got back to Stuart. What really hurt was I had 2 electra-mates and Penn 9/0s on shakespeare fiberglass boat rods and they were both tied down and in the rod holder.

I have had two nice spinning set up yanked out of my kayak by hybrid stripers because I was too lazy to put the rods in the rod holders. The jigs were barely in the water at the time.

Almost lost the bottom half of my 36V Terrova last week when it self deployed at 50mph. My fault as I didn't have the clamp on. Just the wire was holding it together. Luckily it will be fixed under warranty.
