Hunting in general:

Bad: This is the least amount of activity I’ve seen in my life (deer, duck, fish).

Good: Work this year has been the busiest year on record.

The good news I got to hunt for like a week straight all by myself at the camp. The bad news is I had the China Bat Flu and it kinda sucked. A week in isolation sounds good till day 4 when your trying to teach your Lab how to drink beer and kick a fire just to feel a little bit normal.

Been my best year in a while. I killed a 8 pt. in bow season then a 134" 9 pt. two weeks ago and followed that up with an old mature 6 pt. last weekend. It's been a while since i've tagged out on bucks but that's not something i really set a goal to do. My son got his first bow kill this year. Only negative is my daughter hasn't killed a deer this year but we still have time left.

Good my son did his hunters ed and was able to do his first backcountry hunt with me. Also killed his first one all by himself.

Bad- Target buck,a 140+ 8 pt, was gutshot by neighbor and never recovered. And now my boy doesn't always want to sit in the stand with me

Good: I got to hunt more this year than anytime in the last 10ish years. I also have 3 deer in the freezer. All bow kills.

Bad: I missed an absolute monster in Missouri. I hit a double drop tined monster last weekend high (he squatted my arrow) and I found no blood or anything. I can only hope his wound was not mortal.

Good - Dog season opens tomorrow, and we have a few big bucks on camera to turn loose on.

Bad - limited time to hunt with my son due to HS football season being pushed back and not ending until last week of December.

Good: My 13 year old daughter killed a doe, my wife killed her 1st deer, and i shot a 143" 8pt.

Bad: nothing, the hunting never ends in south Texas. After deer season it's time to concentrate on killing hogs and in the Spring it's chasing long beards.

Good - killed a 9 point on opening morning of Gun season.

Bad - Could not hunt that afternoon because wife planned daughters birthday party that afternoon, had to drive 3hrs back home.

Good - Drove back to the lease after birthday party to hunt the same stand the next morning and killed a 10 point then a doe an hour later.

(Had a total of 2hrs invested in the stand.)
