Guy I worked with in AK had a .454 Casull as his back-up for bear hunting.

Its not much different than the 44 mag. I always wanted a DE 44 mag and finally bought one 2 years ago. I couldn't get it to cycle an entire mag. I was highly disappointed. Sent it back for warranty and they basically said nothing was wrong with it. Sits in my safe like a museum piece now.

Same thing with my .44. It always hangs up on the last round in the mag. It was sent in twice and they "changed the springs". Sits in the safe now. They are cool, but not worth the price. Especially the price of ammo.

To me, a .44 mag and the .50 Deagle honestly feels like someone is just punching you in the hand.
I shot a Barrett M107A1 recently and that was the coolest shooting experience ive ever had with a gun. It felt like a punch to your face but without the pain.

Not a DE50 but a smith and Wesson 50 revolver is pretty epic. You can feel the concussion in your chest and even with ear muffs the blast is epic.
At several dollars per shot it’s an easy round to blame cost for not wanting to shoot it a lot lol.

Haven't shot one since the late 90's but it was a great experience.

Never shot the DE .50 but understand that it isn't much worse than a .44 mag with I have a couple of (S&W 629). I actually enjoy shooting a .44 mg revolver that fits your hand decently. One time I had a Ruger Blackhawk with wood grips. I did not enjoy shooting it. Actually it sucked.
I've shot a .460 S&W and it was not that bad either. Guy at the range was shooting it. It was ported and the concussion on that thing was amazing. Wasn't bad for the shooter but if you were off to one side, it was a pretty good thump to the chest. I tried to buy one in an auction but went higher than I was willing to go.

I have one, it's a hoot. You can also shoot 454 and 45lc in it.

Feels like freedom.
I have the 50AE. It definitely has power but the weight of the gun keeps it manageable. It easier to shoot than the 50 caliber upper I have on a AR lower. That thing could kill you firing it.

I have one in 50AE. It’s a ton of fun to shoot and compared to what you think the recoil is vs what it actually is, It’s nothing.
I’ve had zero problems with it.

desert eagles are trash. ftf problems. swapping ammo sensitivities. Magazine-related problems, gas port clogging, and occasional part wear... bad if you have any kind of a limp wristed shooting.
total novelty.

I have two of them. They are not much more than a .357 or 45 in certain styles. Have a nickel plated and one gold plated. Purchased them in 2001 or so. They are my two prized weapons
Hard to wrap a smaller hand around and very heavy. Takes everyone I have let shoot two hands and nearly all afterwards say it wasn’t too bad.
With its size unless you are an abnormally large human, they really are just a cool factor and I would never rely on one for actual defense.

I love the sound of the Desert Eagle, such a resounding, metallic sound…

Same here. Those .460 rounds are something else.
Eta: here’s a pic of my kid shooting it when he was young.

The only 44 I ever shot was a Ruger Blackhawk. I hated it. Those hog leg grips are garbage for anything with recoil. The gun kept rolling in my hands.
Maybe a double action would have been different, I don’t know the terminology but double actions fit in the web between your thumb and index finger, allowing you to control recoil.

Bought three of these a couple months ago. 50AE on two of them and one .44 mag.
50AE is overrated. Recoil is not bad. It is loud. My wife (pics cost money) is 4'10" and shoots it.
44mag is IMHO a better option. slightly cheaper to shoot.
Mostly a collector gun or a gun for guys with small penis. I bought three and have owned a couple of others.

Both mine are 629s one is a 5" and the other is an 8".
The 8" the recoil is about like a heavy .357 with a short barrel. Not bad at all.
The 5" is a little more but still a pleasure to shoot.
The grip makes a world of difference.

I have an IWI-made DE in 50 AE, never a problem that wasn't from limp wristing. I roll my own 300gr JHP's for it too, little hotter than the Hornady factory stuff, definitely more fireball. They have a definite break-in period, they need some mags and extra oil but utterly reliable if you can afford the ammo. The recoil is no joke but the muzzle blast is probably what most really have an issue with. Last time I shot it, indoor range along with a .357 mag. 357 felt very tame compared to the DE...
