Tikka will be the best rifle. Vanguard will be a shooter.

I’ve shot all 3, specifically in .308. I have 2 Vanguards. It was an easy decision for me, I liked the Vanguards significantly more than the other two.

I have the tikka 308, or I should say I bought one for my son. Have you handled all three? I have handled and shot all three, and while they are all capable of being shooters the T3 has a better fit/finish/feel.
I don’t believe the T3 is In the same price point range as the other two unless your getting a deal somewhere.

I’m an unabashed Weatherby fan. The Vanguard is a perfectly serviceable and utilitarian rifle at a great price.
That said, if you are gonna buy a Weatherby get a Mark V in a Weatherby Magnum. They are what made Weatherby the iconic brand that it is.
With new leadership the modern Wyoming made Weatherby Mark V’s are offering all the bells and whistles once reserved for custom guns. Save your pennies and get the 300 WBY as the last North American big game rifle you’ll need to own.

I should have said, I’m looking to stay in the $500-700 range.

I have a Ruger American Predator in .308 (18” barrel that I run a silencer in it). The gun shoot pretty good and is easily a 1 moa gun, but I hated the factory stock on it. Made the balance off. I put a Magpul American hunter stock on it and the balance is much better and it feels much better.
I have an old Weatherby Vanguard and I don’t think it compares to the new ones.
I have a good friend that bought a Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 cm. I helped him sight it in and that gun flat out shoots. It was extremely accurate with factory ammo. Probably .5 moa.

Than ruger American is the easy choice for you here. You can put a $200 scope on it with a good set of rings and still be comfortably within your budget. Buy it and go shoot it.

The Ruger is out. I was at Academy. It was the only one of the three they had in stock. I handled it again. It definitely just feels cheap. I'd rather spend a few extra hundred for something a little better.
Still on the fence between the Vanguard and the T3X. I'm open to other suggestions though in the $500-700(scope and rings not included).

Ruger m77 might be in that range. It has a mauser style bolt which I personally prefer.

1. Tikka
2. Weatherby
3. Ruger
The Tikka is a the nicer of the 3 by far to me. I've never been a Weatherby rifle fan even though I know theyre good rifles. The Ruger will likely be accurate but I can't get past how cheap made they look and more importantly how cheap made they feel
ETA: You should really add Bergara into your list. Their B14 rifles are in your budget and I like them as well if not more than my Tikka's and definitely a lot more than the other two you listed

yep, Tikka and Bergara are the 2 brands that are a cut above the rest in that price range.

I guess people dont like or know that 270 and 3006 have better ballistics. Granted not much but they do. The 3006 if you are shooting heavier grain and the 270 with 130 grain is better in regards to energy and velocity than anything the 308 is going to produce.
Full disclosure I am not a fan of the 308, only real advantage is that is allows for shorter action and barrel for a lighter gun.

Having owned 2 tikkas and shot dozens, the vanguard is very competitve with the tikka. It fits my preferences better than the tikka does.

IMO you can never go wrong with a Tikka. I just bought one in 7mm rem mag to build a 6.5 PRC. For the price its such a solid rifle. Only trigger better is aftermarket.

Just a general question: CZ hasn't been mentioned; the OP didnt ask about them but why not a CZ?
