Vacation to Arkansas to escape Mardi Gras

Would like to get out of town for Mardi Gras but want to do something different than beach and skiing. Hate Disney. Any cool places in Arkansas to rent a cabin? Looking for some OB recommendations. Thanks

I'll rent you my deer trailer in southeast AR for cheap. It will still be bow season.
Otherwise Lake Ouachita in the Ozarks is beautiful and Hot Springs is always nice.

White river if you like fishing.

Gaston's White River Resort is a great place to get away.

Go to Beavers Bend in Hochatown/Broken Bow, OK. Very close to the Arkansas border not too far from the Texarkana area. Some really nice cabins and you can trout fish. I've caught some big rainbows there. It's beautiful there.
There are some great restaurants and bars, a brewery, winery, etc. A few of the restaurants like Grateful Head Pizza have live music on their outdoor patio on weekends.

some nice areas around lake ouachita. We used vrbo to find a place. May also want to consider the smokies, either tennessee or north carolina. We rented a cabin outside of gatlinburg 2 mardi gras' ago and the kids got to experience a ton of snow.

Big Cedar Lodge just south of Branson

Iman48, sorry for the downvote. Was supposed to be an upvote. We enjoy Gastons. Been going there yearly for almost 30 years. Mardi Gras Time should still see the Big Brown trouts active. The fishing in general is great all year. I highly recommend hiring a guide on the river unless you’re fishing from the bank.

Been to Mountain View several times and really enjoy the area, the people, etc. Several cabins in the area to rent, some on the White River or Sylamore Creek or just a nice scenic "mountain view".
Small town of ~2800 (but has a WalMart) that is deemed the "Folk Music Capital of the World". MV is known for "The Square"...which is a vacant city block that has 3 gazebos setup for folks to set around and do some pickin and grinnin. Weather permitting, there is usually a group setting around at the square playing and singing at least 3 - 4 nights a week.
If you are in the area, one of the must is to enjoy the ribs at Tommy's Famous Pizza and Ribs..
Couple things to keep in mind, there are a lot of counties in Arkansas that are "dry" so bring your own if you plan on partaking in adult beverage. Also, some of the local establishments may not take "plastic" so bring a few checks with you ... they will take a check and never ask for ID.

Ever been to the Buffalo? If not, problem solved.

Appreciate the ideas. OB came through.

There are some nice cabins on the Caddo River around the Glenwood/Amity area. Not a ton of stuff to do but it's a quiet getaway. I would also second the Broken Bow idea.
We go there every year right before fall football practice starts for a long weekend. Lots of good eating in the area.

The Buffalo River is beautiful, I plan to take my family there once the kids get a little older. If you can't make it there also consider Arkansas State Parks. They have awesome parks and cabins to rent. Mt. Magazine, Mt. Nebo, and Petit Jean State Park are all along the Arkansas River Valley and provide great views and trails. Here is Mt. Nebo, I think I have some Mt. Magazine pics on the travel board somewhere.

You won't go wrong here.
Also, as the other Hog poster said, look at Gaston's resort.

Petit Jean or Buffalo River if looking for view. If fishing I actually recommend running a little farther upriver than Gaston's to either Norfork or Cotter. I think the fishing is better.

You have to go after a rain though.
