So I noticed that my M2 a few years ago was starting to get tacky on both the forearm and buttstock. I don't hunt with it all that often and it's kept at my mom's house in a gun cabinet.

I went over there this weekend and pulled a few of the guns out for a good ole wipe down. Well, the M2 was unbelievably sticky and nearly impossible to even handle.

Here it is with an obligatory foot in the pic

I did some quick googling and evidently it's a problem with a handful of models of Benelli's with a certain "grip" mixture used on the buttstock and forearm. They tried all of the home remedies to no avail. Most voicing their dismay of paying a pretty penny for a fine shotgun and one day reaching into the safe and it's just a sticky mess.

I emailed Benelli Sunday evening and got a response today. All they needed was my contact info and the serial number. I included the above picture with a picture of the serial number.

I got a reply back within a few hours stating that both replacements are on order (and backordered) and will be shipped at no charge when they have them available.

If you want to shite a brick.. click this link and check out the replacement part prices on Benelli's website.

If you have anything Benelli, keep an eye on it.

My question is... anyone had this problem and if so, how long was the wait to get replacment parts?

I was ready to send them back and he didn't even mention it in the few emails.

How long ago and how long was the turn around?

I had this problem with an expensive digital spotting scope. Apparently the stickiness is a common issue on many cameras, etc., over time. Basically it’s, “sorry Jack”, on the sticky issue developed on an item over so many years.

I had that problem with a browning. Nothing worked except using a plastic scraper to actually scrape it off. Chemicals did absolutely nothing for it.

Pretty sure that’s what happened to my Berreta. They offered to sell me replacements. So there’s that.

Happened on my Sako A7, soaking it in rubbing alcohol ended up working.
Sticky Sako Thread midway thru pg 2 is where I started experimenting.

Hit it with some spray paint after and is holding up great.

It happens with a variety of plastics over time. I have a flashlight that is a current victim.

Man I’m glad I opened this thread. I’ve been putting off getting my SX3 fixed for years. Just talked to Winchester in the phone. Seems like a painless process.

Benelli just responded that the forearms are in a shipment US bound now. The stocks, they're waiting on Italy to fill orders

sorry bnb just seeing this...
I think it was a couple of weeks...
I'm old now so I can't really remember but duck season was coming up and I had it by then...

Winchester and other brands put a coating on them so they wouldn't get slick while hunting in inclement weather...

didn't work out so good...

Call Rob Roberts. He’ll clean it and dip it in whatever camo you like and even ceracoat the barrel and receiver for less than a new stock and forearm from Benelli.

Yep. Benelli made it right on an M2 of mine that got sticky after 2-3 yrs of having never left the gun safe.

Also happened on an Xtrema, on the rubber grip inserts. Beretta told me too bad! I’ll never forget the difference in treatment from the 2 companies.

I'm definitely not throwing the old parts away and will maybe try and clean them up at some point. I probably won't call Bob though
