I would say that it is a tie...toss up between a drake mallard/pintail cross (with pin and curls) and a male oldsquaw....

Black duck for me. Had one working with a big pile of mallards several yrs ago up in north ms delta but couldn't get them to finish. Broke my heart. I've only seen a few of them.

2nd would be a cinnamon teal to go with my gw and bw.

All drake pins don't have the long tail feathers btw. I killed my first one this yr and it didn't.

On my list: drake canvasback.
I knocked out a lot of firsts this yr just by sheer luck. First green head, first pintail drake, first full plumage bwt drake, first widgeon drake. Got all these (the can was my bro's) in two hunts. Lucky as shite for me I gotta say.

I still think bwt drakes in full plumage is the coolest looking duck there is.

i shot a redhead drake and hen in one shot two years ago, they are on the wall

shot a fully plummed drake wood duck last season in the snow, thats on the wall now

bucket list would be drake bull sprig, nice speck, and a very mature greenhead. ive shot some before never really wall worthy.

a mandarin duck or cinnamon teal is on the wish list but wont happen here.

may go get a can next week at everyones favorite lake

I agree. Full plume bull sprig for me. I've killed a few in the past hunting the marshes of SWLA....but never mounted one.

Also, a woodie drake in landing config with his head cocked.

First duck I ever killed was a widgeon drake...wouldn't mind one of those either.

Not on the list...but as a conversation piece...a free standing Hollywood...with a set of dentures to make the smile complete. The pharmacist at Barger's drugs in Lake Charles had one on the counter...I loved that mount!

I forgot to say that my son's first duck will be mounted. I don't care if it's a hen spoonbill. He's 8 and I won't let him get a gun and hunt until he's 10. His 10th b-day present will likely be a gun.

only been shooting dogris and redheads since the second weekend of the first split
I would have to pick cinnamon teal, though. ive been saying I want to get a drake GW teal done, just always end up eatin them.
I can kick myself for not getting any of my pintail or wigeon mounted

Why wait so long? As soon as my son can pick it up he'll have a shotgun, he's getting a 22 for Christmas at 5

He already has two .22s. He needs to grow and mature a little more before he starts hunting he's pretty small for his age.

Ducks that will end up on my wall in the future (hopefully)

Full disclosure, I love duck mounts and want a room filled with them.

Already have woodduck and greenwing pair. Have greenwing I'm getting preening in the freezer right now that I shot with fish

Canvasback drake or sprig for me.

Last year my buddy and me decided to do a hunt in our little timber hole with our older guns. A '54 Auto-5 belgian for me and he was shooting his old Remington Model 11. Had a pair of sprigs drop right in on us. He folded one and I missed. The one he shot is on his office wall.
