we have a uv filter on our pool. as far as chlorine goes, it does use less imo.

as far as water maintenance, it is a lot easier to keep the water balanced. i hardly ever have to add anything and my water stays perfect throughout the year, even in cold months.

you are 100% right

my son plays travel ball but for an organization(traction canes) that doesn't do fall and encourages arm rest and other sports. my son plays football and then basketball in between baseball season and it has made him a much better athlete and baseball player.

we start tourneys this weekend and im ready to get back to it. im glad he has a coach who is worried about development and not rings. his assistant coach is an ex lsu baseball player so he gets plenty of good coaching.

travel ball in general is a money grab for most. plenty of kids playing who have no business doing so but hey it is what it is. id rather that kid play baseball than sit inside.
i bought my 24 bluewave in 2020 loaded out for what most aluminum rigs are going for now. its pretty insane to think that a new 24' bay boat is double what I paid 5 years ago.

When boat prices were on the rise in 2021 or so I was offered stupid money for my 24 but I decided to keep and I'm glad I did because I would never pay these prices.

The nola boat show is this weekend, id be curious to see the prices on bay boats.

Like someone said the blackjacks have gotten so expensive, a used 2016-2020 model is going for damn near 100k and thats stupidity.

boat prices will never go down as lng as people keep financing them

My son has a a ruger American 7mm-08 and its a solid gun. paired with a vortex scope he has killed 3 deer with it at age 7 and this season missed one last weekend due to being impatient lol party my fault. but its a great gun and id shoot it as an adult. its deadly!

I guided up there for two seasons, my buddies outfitter is about and hour west of Norman.

Some of the best waterfowl hunting you can do is in that area with the right outfitter, lots of good options around Norman about hour or two for good hunting outfits
I used to run my own detail business and I can tell you there are some great guys and way more half arse guys out there. Don't settle for cheap work because i promise its never going to be good.

My recommendations are T98 car detailing, The shine Shop of BR, VIP surface concepts, Off duty Detailing.

I personally have worked with these guys and they all do top notch work.

re: Duramax 3.0 Turbo Diesel

Posted by WHODAT514 on 10/17/24 at 8:51 am
I'm on my second 3.0 duramax. I had a 2021 sierra i bought in 2020 with the lm2 and i can say i never had one issue and i put 65k hard miles while guiding out of state. def consumption is only bad when towing imo. I always keep a jug for long hauls.

i Currently have a 2023 3.0 LZO in my at4 and i love it even more. It gets better fuel economy and tows better than the older LM2 engine

I tow a 24' bay boat and occasionally a 47 horse tractor. it tows smooth and never had any issues.

On top of the great towing, it gets great fuel mileage. I avg around 25 in town and can get 30 on the highway at decent speeds. it gets around 12-14 towing my boat.

with the factory 100k warranty I wouldn't hesitate to buy one

re: A/C Patio with Motorized Screens

Posted by WHODAT514 on 10/9/24 at 10:39 am
we just ordered our motorized screens with an access door. I'm curious to see how well the heat stays in during winter and how well it stays cool in the heat of summer. my sales guy said to use my porta cool and it will help a lot better than an ac.

we paid around 9k for the guy asking. that's three bays 10x 12 or so. one bay stops on my outdoor kitchen counter so it doesn't go to ground. and we added a door for access to pool instead of having raise shade.

re: Blue Wave Purebay 2200

Still way too expensive for a frontier imo. Lots of solid used units around as well.

That boat has same colors as my old frontier, good looking rig

I loved my frontier but compared to a 2200 pure bay, the blue wave has way more features like fish boxes and better rod storage. The rod storage on the frontier was awful.

For a 21’ boat it was super nice tho.

Go look at both and compare them and what you must have, they both ride fantastic.

Haha i suppose I’ll take that compliment

I just wish i had time to use my boat, not a single fish has hit the deck this year

Current blue wave owner of a 2400

Previously owned a 2104 frontier.

That being said I’d choose a blue wave over the frontier.

Both are great boats but the blue wave has a better layout and more features. The wiring is better on the blue wave for sure.

Don’t let the company bring shut down deter you from buying a blue wave. Mine is 4 years old and never had a single issue.

Had some wiring issues on my frontier from poor quality.

Also LOL about blue wave owners being a holes.

re: Chevy 1500 or Ram 1500?

Posted by WHODAT514 on 8/29/24 at 9:15 am
im a current GMC at4 owner with the 3.0 duramax, and its a great truck. this is my 3rd gm truck coming from ford.

that being said my good buddy has a 2024 ram laramie with the hemi and its a fine arse truck. they do not make the hemi anymore so that may be an issue for you as they switched to the twin turbo engine.

the inside is way nicer than my gmc but id rather my gmc overall.

go test drive both and see which one you like. if staying with gm, id go with the 3.0 duramax, its an awesome engine and i get 25 mpg sometimes 30. Towing my boat i get 12 which is good for a half ton.

I think most places are give or take $20 per foot of boat or so for a good, reputable place

thats about average. for a basic detail and wax. i went up some due to the cost of materials and when i had employees. but 20-30$ a foot for inside and out is about normal.

You have any recommendations in the Slidell area? A few have started posting in fishing groups.

only guy on Northshore I trust is Cody Stewart with southern charm detailing. always remember you get what you pay for with detailing.
Yes I’ve been enjoying the engineering life again. I did a boat or two here and there end of last year but work and kids sports keep me busy.

I’d also highly recommend Matt and his crew at VIP

I wish i had the time to get back with it, i miss it

re: In- ground Pool Water is Hot

Posted by WHODAT514 on 6/13/24 at 8:30 am
i have three sprinkler attachments on my return jets. i installed them a few weeks ago when the pool got to 90. i run the pool from 8 pm to 8 am or so. my pool is currently 85 and has stayed in the 80s since.

i used them last year when it was in the 100s daily here in south Louisiana and pool stayed below 90 being ran at night with the sprinklers.

18000 gallon chlorine in ground gunite pool for reference. we were going to install a chiller but pool builder recommended these first and im glad we chose this. $60 compared to 3k for chiller.

re: Boat fuel tank additive

Posted by WHODAT514 on 5/14/24 at 7:12 am
I run regular gas and use yamaha fuel additive and run ring free once a year thru it. my boat sits up some and I never have an issue. I've never run ethanol free in my 300 yamaha outside of marina fuel and have had zero issues for 4 years.
