Any thoughts on this rifle from anyone owning one?
How do you like it? I know it's a discontinued model.

Great rifles for the money. Be forewarned though recoil with them on anything above a 30-06 can be eye opening to say the least. A Tikka T3 in 7mm-08 may be damn near the perfect deer rifle for the southern states. And that's coming from a guy who will take a Bergara over any other factory rifle

A lot of guys put a Limbsaver type recoil pad on the Lites to mitigate some of that recoil. May look into that. They're not expensive.

Fantastic rifle, I have the super lite (fluted barrel) stainless in .270 and put a limb saver on it but don’t really need it. Put a Swarovski scope on in and I could not be happier
Had a buddy work me up some handloads and at 200 yards it will shoot 1 inch groups

I also have a T3 in .338 win mag, put a brake on it, still kicks like a mule but gets the job done

Look into Terminator brakes on YouTube. They are one of the top 3 brakes at cutting recoil down to less than 50%.

A 7mm rem mag has less recoil than a 243 with that brake.

I have the T3 lite with the blued barrel. The only reason I wish i would have bought the Hunter is for aesthetics, the lite has been a great rifle so far for the price.

I have one in 270 and am pleased with it.

My only complaint is the detachable magazine, which I was aware of when I bought the gun. I don’t like the top rail over the chamber allowing restricted access to the chamber should you not have your magazine with you (ie: left it in another bag or away from the gun). This is coming from a fella with large fingers. Yes you can load it without the magazine, but it is much more cumbersome to do so.

The old 700 bdl’s wirh the hinged floor plates were a fantastic design. Why other manufacturers don’t do this now is beyond me. My T3 Stainless Lite is a great shooting and handling gun. I also have one in 7-08 for my oldest son.

Tikka T3 in .270 here
Shoots like a dream, no problem with recoil, drives tacks at 150 yds, which is about as far as I need to shoot my deer

my problem with this is when you unload it you then have a handful of loose shells to deal with, I really like the detachable magazine, but then again my first 2 deer rifles (rem 7400, and browning A bolt) both had them so it is what I am used to, I do wish the magazine on the T3 was flush with the bottom of the rifle, but it really has not been that big of a problem

Yo,

Good rifle. I doubt there is a better action in its class. Mine is a working rifle - I don't take near the care as I should. Limbsaver added as mentioned earlier. Razor HD on top. Overall, love it and shoots better than I.

bought the first gen T3 22-250 when eurooptic.com had them for less than 500 back over the summer. kicking my arse for not picking up a 7mm-08 or 308 at the time. Sweet, sweet shooter. dead-arse accurate, getting 1/2 MOA with Barnes 50gr TSX. I think they are to Sako what the Vanguard is to Weatherby.

Buddy got the 300WM and says it kicks his arse. Put a limbsaver on it and is manageable. Could be due to the gun being so light.

Cons: the 1st gens have a small ejection port forcing you to load via the detachable magazine. Bolt shroud is plastic and can crack with lots of firing on magnum calibers. Lots of aftermarket metal bolt shrouds. New T3x's opened up the port so you can load from the top and now have metal alloy bolt shrouds.

I have one in 300 win mag. It's a thumper for sure. Accurate as hell with 165 gr. Barnes TSX. Not fun to shoot but kills on both ends.

Took my t3x lite stainless in 7mag to the range today actually. Shot maybe 15 rounds at plates at 300,400, &500 yards. I didn’t miss one time and I’m not that good of a shot. 90% of that is the rifle..lol. I did put a muzzle brake on it which is awesome bc I can stay on target after shooting and see the bullet hit the plate before I hear the report. No regrets or complaints at all.

Got the super lite stainless in 6.5 cm. Straight out of the box the gun is smooth and an easy shooter. Dialed in with two bullets. Love it. My new go to.
