Sadly, my pops doesn't really duck hunt, fish, or play golf any longer. I guess I'll do the old standby of a good bottle of booze and cigars.

Whats the OB faithful doing for your own dad this weekend?

I wanted to get a book on the history of grand isle or something along those lines but I can't find anything like that.

Might get him one of the troutmasters books

I used to do that as well before the e-readers came along. He reads so much I can't keep up any longer.

Well, unfortunately don't get to do anything for mine. Plus I lost my brother this past year.

It's gonna kinda suck because of that.

For my FIL, I really have no idea. He has so much crap I can't explain. He doesn't hunt or fish.

He collects guns (well he likes to trade guns) and has more stuff for them then you can imagine. A few years ago I got him a Dillon 550 reloader. Probably the best present I've ever gotten him but since then he's gotten a 650 and a 1050.

I really don't know.

I wouldn’t sweat it, anything you give will be thoughtful and appreciated. I don’t have anyone to buy for any longer, spending time is the best gift.
Now, for books it would be “Plugger” Rudy Grieger was a Texas trout legend or Louisiana Cowboys written by Bill Jones, Bert’s older brother. It’s a cool coffee table book chronicling the Gray Ranch cowboys.

Invite him to your house and have a cocktail with him. Play his music. Grill some 2” thick prime ribeyes. Tell him you love him.

Mine passed 13 years ago. As a father myself, nothing is better than time spent with them. Would love to spend Sunday with mine. Appreciate them while you got them. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us.

Bet he still eats. Take him to a nice restaurant and treat him to a good meal with a couple cocktails since booze and cigars is on your possible gift list.

ETA: One year I was stumped as what to get for my brother-in-laws elderly mother for Christmas. I finally told her my gift to her was to come to her house and wash, wax and detail her vehicle.

She only ran it through those automatic car washes maybe 3 times a year and when I was done, it looked almost new. Best thing I could have given her by her reaction.
