Suggestions for a new pistol to add to the family

I have a 9 mm (SA Xd) and .357 that are my go to pistols along with a .32 and several .22’s.
I was looking at a 1911 the other day and a Glock in 10mm.
What’s the OB’s option on caliber, manufacturer, and handling.

I love my Glock20. Great 10mm and not expensive.
I haven’t shot it yet but at some point I’ll get the new Canik Rival S. Sexy bastard if you want another 9mm.
I know I’m weird but I really like the look of this Taurus Raging Hunter. If you want a monster bullet, comes in 44 mag and 454 casull.
Yesterday I bought a Springfield Hellcat to be my new carry gun. I liked the two toned look.

Springfield just brought the Operator back.
I have a loaded lightweight operator and it’s a great gun.

Without an intended use/preference, its hard to pick one out of the blue. The Rock Island armory I think makes a GI issue .45 1911 that is parkerized and looks like WWII issue. Looks very cool.

Get a Glock 20. I love mine.
I thought really hard about a 1911, but went with Glock. It's fun to shoot and it definitely serves a great place and serves an important purpose in my gun arrangement.

I wanted a .45ACP just to have one. I like the fat bullets but 1911s aren’t a passion and didnt want to spend much. So I got a Taurus 1911 and it’s been fine. Feels very solid and has been perfectly reliable. I think it looks good. Isn’t as smooth shooting as my buddy’s Kimber but honestly feels more solid.

I have purposefully stayed away from collecting calibers. This is why I do not own a 10mm or 40 or 357, etc. For a ling time only owned 9mm. I stick with 9mm (HKVP9/SK, Glock 17/19/45/19x, SW MP/Shield), 45 (1911 and HK45), and .380(Ruger LCP).
Higher End pistols I love:
HK VP9 Tactical OR
HK 45 tactical
Less expensive pistols i also love:
Glock 45 or 19x
RIA FS 1911 TwoTone

OP what is your price range? I would skip the 1911 and go with a double stack 2011

You can always go with a Glock 20 and convert it to 45 when you want to.

I like the look of that operator.
I guess I’d like to stay close to $700 unless a certain pistol just shouts out to me buy me buy me buy me
The 1911 garrison in 9mm looks pretty sharp

It’s only money
I really like the blued version. Has a nice clean look. Pretty good value for a 9mm Springer.
I bought a Bul Armory SAS 4.25 9mm 2011 a few months ago. I wanted a 2011 but didn’t want to pay the Staccato prices and the Prodigy has too many issues. The SAS is about the same price as the prodigy but much better gun. It has a 3.5 lb trigger out of the box with a short reset. It’s as accurate as the Staccato but not quite as fast. Overall it’s one of the best values on the market IMO. Great looking to boot. Comes with 2 19 rd mags. It’s not cut for a red dot. They have a model that’s about $400 more that has red dot capabilities.

Not to hijack the thread, but I’m in the market for a 1911. $800-$1200 price range (not firm on the range cap).
I like the look of the Springfield Garrison, reviews are fairly good, seems to be around the $850-$900 price range. Are anyone have any input about these?
Also have considered buying something much cheaper (Charles Daly, Rock Island, etc.) and doing a few upgrades myself. Anyone been this route? Aftermarket parts are plentiful and I enjoy building/modifying.

I haven’t upgraded it but I rather like my Taurus 1911. I think I paid around $600 and it’s performed flawlessly. I like it’s looks and it feels solid although not as smooth as a Kimber.

No to the 1911. Too few rounds, too hard to clean and reassemble compared to the XD (the spring on a 1911 is a real risk, it's not on other pistols). I would also divorce .357 and .32 once you're comfy with .45ACP. ETA: it's a nice history piece, but I'm not carrying that little ammo with a handle that sticks out that far, and I don't want to feel the need to put on eye pro to put the spring back in. You want a safe queen, probably a good option.
The less "custom" you make a firearm, the better it seems to run like an AK. In other words, milspec > sooper expensive. I ran close to 2,000 rounds through a Springfield Milspec 1911 in two days, dropping mags in the dirt, etc., and never cleaned it, and never had a malfunction that wasn't operator error. Go high end, and any room for sand, leather detritus from the holster, etc., most certainly decreases for proper function.
10mm/40S&W is not advised. I've never been more pleased with .45ACP out of a sub 4 inch barrel. Smooth, not sharp, even at 230 grains, unlike nearly everything out of a 40S&W.

There are $4K Springfield Professional HRT 1911’s that have had 100K rounds through them. My ED brown has had 10K rounds through it without any issues except for some occasional ammo issues. Higher end 1911’s are some of the most reliable guns in the world.

If you’re looking for a hammer-fired 9mm, don’t sleep on the p226. Super smooth action and a light trigger once you get passed the DA first shot. Serves as a sweet shooter range toy, but it’s also my bedside pistol. No manual safety, stout first shot trigger weight, higher cap, etc.

eventually, ammo is going to be near impossible to get, always keep that in the back of your mind. I'd go 9mil, ammo is cheap and plentiful, you can stock up on ammo over the next few years and have enough for your grandkids, who won't be able to buy it (or handguns for that matter).
