Sting Ray treatment?

Other than hot water, what home remedies have yall tried for sting ray sting?

Treat the wound for possible infection. I would Hibiclens the shite out of it. The last thing you need is Vibrio after dealing with the pain of a sting ray barb lodging in ur foot. If you are past that window of initial infection, just keep the wound clean and go see a Dr if it looks like it is getting infected please. Vibrio has an extremely short fuse. Scalding hot water dulls the pain but that is really for immediately being hit.

I'd get an XRay and make sure there's no pieces of barb stuck in there to cause an infection. Not worth losing a foot over.

I will say my cousin is an oysterman in Virginia and he keeps Lipton teabags in his boat.
He’s a different breed though. Frames oyster houses for other oysterman, the goes out a night in the Lynnhaven t on then farm his own.

All of this. I got popped several years ago while wade fishing and cleaned it well and soaked in the hottest water that I could stand. Ended up seeing a DR just in case, as it was in very warm and dirty water around here. All good, other than the pain for a few hours.

DOn't know about stingrays but I got into a wad of damned jelly fish once and for nearly 30 years afterwards that shite would flare up a couple of times a year...doctor said it was normal. Hasn't happened in several years thank goodness....about like a mild case of poison ivy....

You're not supposed to use hibiclens on punctures like stingray barbs. It's an external only product.

I got stung by one in the foot. Pain was horrible.
went to the emergency room and they put my foot in hot water and the pain stopped.
x-ray to make sure barb wasn't in my foot and sent me home with a big bill.

HOT water, the heat unravels the venom proteins and renders the injury to a flesh wound in lieu of the pain and reactions from the venom. Piss is warm but nowhere near the temps needed to "cook" the protein and will do nothing except make you smell like piss. X-rays to make sure there's for barb or foreign objects that broke off. Treat wound as necessary and take antibiotics.

This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My grandfather got deathly ill from this when I was a kid. It was not pretty.

Pro tip: get a Cooler or Turkey fryer/ crawfish pot and a Sous Vid. Constantly boiling water and working on the right temp is a PITA.
A sous vid when my wife got hit was amazing. She like 111* if I remember right.
You basically want it as hot as you can stand. Sous vid kept it perfect.

I no longer mess with them for that exact reason.

Man that was a heck of a day.
Years ago- family trip with Ex and ex inlaws to South Padre- fishing on beach, got popped in the foot right off the beach.
Drove to IGA- got meat tenderizer and a 30 pack.
Went back to condo- applied meat tenderizer, sat on floor, soaked towels in water- heat towel in microwave, wrap foot, drink beer, start heating another towel when one on foot cooled, repeat for hours. Brutal for about 6-8hrs i think.
Got antibiotics and cleaned really well just in case.
I'll put that up there with all my broken bones and tears as far as pain.
Funnier part- I had a live thread on TBH going when it happened. I kept posting updates, people said I wouldn't fish again the next day- we did and limited on trout.
Drive back to waco- go to my dr, tell them I'm there because of a Sting ray sting for antibiotics, my Dr comes in and says man- I've been following this thread on TBH a guy got popped by one yesterday at SPI! I said you're looking at TFlex in the flesh!

Ive heard they are good to eat…. So it can go both ways I guess if they piss you off enough…. Heard people making scallops out of them.
