Neither dropped in tracks ??
Another vote for the previous body sequoia. Got a 2010 with 350k and a 2019 with 170k. You wont be disappointed. No the fanciest features but will last forever. Ill drive the one with 350k anywhere. Ive got less than $3k in repairs in it.

Come on guys. This guy is needing a fishing buddy. Somebody on here has got to be in need of a partner. If you were closer you could just go with me.

So what did you decide on?

I found someone that had the browning xbolt and the tikka. Shot both.

Gonna go with xbolt hells canyon in .300mag.

Havent decided on glass yet

The mast drop is usually mid september and last until about 1.5-2 weeks in october for me. Im in pike county. When they are dropping its an absolute magnet. Im not competing with crops though. I planted mine to diversify my property, add another food source that my neighbor doesnt have, and to create edge.

I love to bow hunt too, so it works in my favor. Also having another mast that drops different times than your other whites/reds just keeps more deer on you longer.

I always feel there is no waste in adding another food source regardless of if it’s huntable or not because that just holds more game in your area. Especially when it’s a no maintenance food source.

I gave away 200 last year. Guy came a pulled the up under my trees. I got 100 the year before. Basically did a bare root and replanted with 2 days. 97 of mine lived.

Where are you?

Work on ford 2000 gas tractor

Posted by Theotherpikecounty on 1/29/26 at 7:07 am
Im in sw ms and looking for someone to work on my 1964 ford 2000 tractor. Very similar to the 9n. The hydraulic lifts have gone out on it. Everything else works fine. Ive done most of the trouble shooting on it i just dont have time to work on it.

Any recommendations on someone that works on these? No looking for just a mechanic shop, actual person/place. The john deere/kubotA/mahindra dealerships do not.

Deer moved a lot yesterday morning. Saw 5 different bucks and about 10 does. Shot a nice 8pt with my bow around 800. Had a wide 6 come in after and stayed under me for 15 min. Wanted to shoot him too. Was hunting in open hardwoods.

And you probably shoot your bow a lot.

Yes I do. Got another one this morning.

Ive looked into some of these services. Definitely would take away lots of headaches but wouldnt “get to learn the gun” as much.

That might be a good thing

You and probably everyone you ever knew probably never shot more than 20 rounds in a year from a centerfire rifle, much less actually practiced in field conditions and learned what you and your rifle were REALLY (not) capable of doing without getting lucky

Without a doubt 100% correct. I dont think ive fired 20 shots in the last 20 years. Im more comfortable target shooting my bow at a 100yds than my rifle.

Ive talked to several outfitters out west and they want you to be able to shoot 400yds. Thats why i feel the need to buy now and start practicing. I think it could take years for me to get proficient from awkward positions with that. And i may find out after going all in on a purchase i cant do it and just stick with my bow until i cant anymore.

Not to derail your thread but what kind of shape are you in have you ever hiked the mountains ?

I consider myself to be in pretty good shape. I run 12-15 miles per week, swim a mile a day 3x week and bike 50-60 miles per week. Done a few marathons, and a couple triathlons. Usually do a core workout daily and a gym workout 1-2x weekly. I hunt western co yearly usually walking 3-10 miles daily.

Im not concerned about my physical fitness. Just trying to get recs on gun set ups because ive bow hunted only for so long. Ive got a browning A bolt mico .308 that isnt gonna get done what im wanting my equipment to do.

Ill be hunting MT ID NM AZ and NV in the next 10 yrs

Thanks for all the advice. Plenty to look at for sure

Are you going with an outfitter or DIY?

Some of both. The states where it is high point value, so possibly once in a lifetime, a guide. Places where i can get in every 2-4 yrs, DIY.
Im about 3 yrs out of a period in my life to make a trip every year with the points ive accumulated over multiple states/species before i get to where i cant physically make it. Will front end the DIY while younger and probably transition to guided as i get(more) older

Give me some options of some off the shelf products or minimum modification to get a 500 yd gun. Looking to add to my arsenal for the future. I have always bow hunted but getting older i may start adding some gun hunts in. Bolt gun that is or easily threadable for suppressor/or muzzle brake, quality glass but not multiple house payments, and sturdy but not sack of concrete weight stock.

.300 win mag for simplicity of ammo or ease of reloading.

Edit below:
Could i do it for <$3k? Im cheap and always looking for a steal of a deal. I like great stuff but like getting it for pennies. Not apposed to starting with a used gun. Never trusted used glass though.

2nd edit:

Thanks for the input so far. Long range shooting is all new to me. I havent killed a deer(white or mule), antelope, or elk in over 20 yrs without a bow. 500 yds to me seems like MILES to me
