I'm an SP101 fan big time for CC, but you'd have to go used to get away for less than $500

Would a used gun be a good route to take? Or is it new or bust? Like I said, not to familiar with this area. I didn't know if a used gun can frick up and end up being a POS like a playstation or something

In LA, I took hunters ed. in 7th grade (public school).

We shot shotguns (two shots each) at clay ON CAMPUS!

Damn, how things have changed.

I've never bought a used one, but I have some old guns that have many rounds through them. I wouldn't be scared of used. Just don't see much of a discount with them.

I do like the Ruger SR9c though

I think they are still under $500. Mine was 450. But they do have a good trigger and you can use the 10 round flush mag or get 17 round mags. I use the 17 rounders for range shooting and keep the 10 round loaded with HP. Fits in my nightstand perfect.

Hope that helps.

Uhhh, you might wan't to take her out on a date first before you marry her.

I'm a little suprised other gun owners are saying to get a specific gun when they don't know you.

OP, as another poster said, go to the range and try out as many guns as you can. This is important. Not only is this an investment for you, but something that might save your life one day. You'll notice that some guns feel great while others not so much.

Also, take a gun safety course. They teach you a lot more than don't point the gun at other people. You'll be much better for it, you dont want to be the guy who accidently shot himself, or even worse harmed a love one.

I'm just speaking on what I have and why I like it. There are many out there that are great shooters. But his $500 ceiling has cut out many of the platforms. I'm not sure if you can find a better plastic gun under $500 than the SR9c.

Now if he wants something smaller for pocket carry that's different.

OP- check Wooly's thread. I think he may have found a M&P for under 500. Not sure if that's something that could be concealed carry. But it is a great gun.

Ruger LC9 for more concealable but less shooter friendly. Although Bapple CC's his SR9c.

Nodust is on the money!

The SR9c is, in my opinion, the best value for under $500 on the market... period. I absolutely love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything. It has been flawless in 5k-6k rounds and I trust my life to it, bar-none.

That said, it is not the end-all, be-all. Watch these two videos I made to decide what you think you should use. And keep this in mind: Every gun has a very specific purpose. Ask yourself first what the gun will be used for, then work from there.
