would you like me to post you a copy of the class action. Do you want the one Ford filed saying that they sucked, the one they filed against their warranty company or the one by the truck owners. I read it and couldnt believe it. Not sure how I can post a big doc on here but if someone would show me glad to do it. But while I'm at it on the compile list of outdoor crap you should never ever touch:

These shitty diesels,

older Mercury opt-Max 150s (Just ask your mechanic, but when the joke with the Marine mechanics is "what is the 100 hour maintenance on optimax, you change the power heads. " what else do you need to know?

Any Remington 700 that is more than 5 years old. The are nicknamed "Kid Killers" for a reason. I know a ton of us have these, never let kids use them and never ever carry them loaded. They are dangerous like it or not.

any Ed Finct fuel injection Evinrude, the great outboard innovation that bankrupt Evinrude, these wonderful pieces of shite keep Seatow in business for years. I doubt there any left but if they are avoid like the plague.

any 2000 model 23-33 foot center counsel with a welded aluminum tank like Fountains, etc. I am not implying that every boat in this arena is bad but there were a significant number of boats that had defective aluminum tanks due to inferior welding. If you're buying one of these used in damn well better have the tank checked out.

The cheap little finNor spinning reels etc from the 90's. I don't know who made these little pieces of shite but it damn sure wasn't FinNor.

we really need to have a permanent topic on outdoor items to avoid on here. Please feel free to add to this list, and if anybody can show me a way to give everyone access to large PDF documents I'll post the supporting information on these lemons.

Out of the 15 or so people I know who have had them, probably 20 new motors have been installed. One guy went through 5 in two years

I got a 6.0 with everything above. It runs like a scalded dog but wasn't cheap to get it there.

I'm a 7.3 man myself. I just went to Phoenix to get a 2000 7.3L F350. That was the closest that I could find one really clean with low miles for under $25,000.

However, the '06-'07 6.0 L diesels are worth buying cheap and bulletproofing. They will shite stomp the 7.3L performance-wise. It's too bad the transmissions aren't compatible, I would swap it out in a heartbeat.

They're only dangerous when dumbasses neglected them or someone who had no business doing so tried to do a trigger adjustment.

This is the way I look at it. Would you ever buy the worst of any product made in over a decade? My answer is no, so why would I buy a 6.0. It's the worst diesel made since 1999 and maybe further back than that.

We call 'em 'sickos'. Avoid the early 6.0s like the plague, go with an 05,06,07.

Get an EGR delete kit, go with the ARP stud kit for the heads(black onynx head gaskets suck, get the OE gaskets from the dealership).

You may or may not have to replace the FICM, high oil pressure pump, injectors, and turbo.

Stay away from the after-market oil filter replacements like WIX, NAPA and others, go with the Ford OE filters. Keep the oil, fuel and air filters changed regularly on these babies and I mean regularly.

Get a good cetane boost for the fuel. Use it every time you fill up.

BTW, the 6.4L diesels are absolute crap, stay away from them. I have a family member who has one that has been pretty lucky with his but he is very meticulous about keeping them serviced to the tee.

I haven't heard much on the new 6.7 though.

I had a 2006 6.0 that was used for travel and light pulling (60K a year). Ran great till 150K miles. Then I broke out the checkbook.

Replaced:
High pressure pump
Fuel rails
Every damn seal in the damn thing
EGR
Sensors

All total over the next year 8 grand till I cried uncle and dumped it. Pardon me while I go throw up thinking about that POS

My 06 6.0 has 60K miles.

Im rolling the dice by waiting to spend the 5k. As you can see from earlier in this thread Ive done all the research. My dilemma is that its paid for. And i like the truck. If i trade it, i have a note again, and may getting right back into the soup as the new diesels fords have not been out long enough.

If I spend the 5k the truck will remain mine forever.

Burnt up mine(6.4), but it was 100% my fault. Havent heard of many other problems since they put out a few TSBs and have re-done the programming 100x.

It was/is a solid truck. If I could ever get a motor in it that wasn't fricked up, I'd be a happy camper.

I have a 2007 F250 with the 6.0
It has 111k and got a new engine/oil cooler at 80k.I put a new FICm,Bulletproof aluminum radiator,CAC tube and boots in it last year.I also flushed the Ford Gold coolant out and went with CAT ELC ccolant with a coolant filter. The best thing I have done to it is switch to synthetic oil. It starts right up even when cold.It made a huge difference in the way it runs.I upgraded the fuel pressure regulator spring to help keep the pressure up.The injector stiction is gone as well.I will likely have it up for sale this year and go back to a hlaf ton.I dont pull the TT as much as I thought I would.

Only has 20k miles on it and the damned thing keeps filling the oil pan with diesel. It has had 2 oil pumps put in it. It is back at the dealership now for the same issue.

Need to check the injectors, sounds like one is stuck open. Probably also need to change the turbo bushings. They do not like fuel.

I most certainly am not buying one.

It was just a drunk debate. I've heard both sides of it plenty.

I guess their own enigeers are lying right mfer?
But as early as December 3, 1946, with the gun still in the testing stage, lead engineer Merle “Mike” Walker—who would later receive a patent for the 700 series’ firing mechanism—wrote a memowarning of a “theoretical unsafe condition” involving the gun’s safety; the mechanism that is supposed to keep the gun from firing accidentally.

Four months later, in an April 9, 1947 memo entitled “M/721 Pilot Line Inspection,” Test Engineer Wayne Leek wrote, “This situation can be very dangerous from a safety and functional point of view.”

Among other things, Leek noted, it was “possible to fire the gun by pushing the safety to the ‘off’ position.”

Take my word for it. Merc optimax's are not getting any better. I know 10-12 guy's that are waiting on powerheads for their 02-03-04 Optimax's. Some of them with twins and both engines nedd PH's.. Don't even get me started on their gearcase problems.. They seem to be getting worse. The guy's I know with 98-99's with up to 1800hrs on them, they are running fine. It's gotten old hearing the 02's had the problems cured... Then it was the 03's then the 04's and now the 05's are suppose to be right?

Funny you should say that. I might have run that motor. The fichts were notorious for having problems. We blew a number of powerheads on the 150hp when they first came out. They seemed to have all kinds of fancy technology, which lead to alarms going off all the time for who knows what. Now saying this, these motors were the 1998 or 99 models. Hopefully yours will give you many hours of use. I think the state just had too many problems around the state to justify the repair time and money.
