If my next truck, and it isn't too far away, doesn't have a standard I'm ripping the auto out of my green truck.

I WILL frickING HAVE ONE.

You can find them. I bought a 2000 250 ext cab 4x4 7.3 with a standard for 5k a yr and half ago. It had 180k on it but good maintance records. It pulls a 15k lb skid steer around town everyday.
Also bought a 2012 with the 6.7 and Im very impressed.

I agree with everyone else, wait and find a deal and do the stuff you have to do and you will comeo out with a good truck with a 6.0.

I am hoping this turns out to be a good motor for ford...So far i have not heard of too many issues with it. Would really like to get one. But the 6.0 and 6.4 cluster f#ck have me a little gun shy.

When I was looking for a new truck I almost went look at the Dodge for the sake of a standard tranny. Then I came to my senses.

I'm hoping so as well. This one is currently my dream truck so I really don't see a new one in my future for at least 5+ years. So far 16,000 trouble free miles in 10 months. Seeing H&S push one to 880hp/1600tq on stock internals/transmission has made me feel a little bit better. My biggest concern is that since I'm all stock if all the EPA emissions crap will lead to premature failures. Time will tell.

I drove a 6.0 with a 6 speed for a few days. Damn thing was a mule and put the 7.3's and 5.9's I had driven to shame. It had much more of a "could pull your house down" feel than either of the other two.

I'd love to have a brand new one bulletproofed. It was a bad SOB. It also ate a few turbos and hpops

Same here. I have 2400 miles on mine so far. It is unreal how much power the 6.7L has stock and amazing how fast it will push such a huge truck. Acceleration from 30-80 will throw you in the seat. I had a 2008 Chevy with duramax allison and so far the 6.7L and tourque shift put it to shame. Damn thing tows my 12k lb 5th wheel like it isn't there and this has to be the quietest diesel engine i have ever been around.

Ive also got a 5.9 dodge in a 3500 that will pull with the best of them. Its a damn automatic though and guess where it is agian.... the transmission shop.

You can still get standards new, that will be the easiest way to get one. I thought you were looking for a deal on a used one and that would be tougher since there are so few.

Yea Im very impressed. They did their homework on this one. Of course they had to though after two flops.

And someone said they werent sure about the 6.7 yet. There are some out there with a lot of miles already.

I'm not really looking for anything. Just the results of 50 thousand beers and a buddy with his brand spanking new F350 6.7

I won't be in a position to buy a "new" truck until the end of the summer.

If I bought a brand new truck it would be exactly this

LINK

I don't need a diesel. The only reason I'd buy one would be so my hard headed arse could get a standard. I'm terrified of what the long term maintenance and operating costs of these new diesels will be.

Mine sucks but I put a lift and some 35's on it right off the bat. Im at 14 in town and the interstate varied alot with speeds. I was close to 20 at 60 but as low as 15 at 80.

ETA: youll def hear better, I dont drive slow.

I am getting 14.8 mpg around town, 15+ interstate light truck and 10.8 towing my fifth wheel.

If you could keep your speed around 50 the damn thing would get high 20's

I had to put airbags on my current half ton to keep it level with them. I'd like to avoid that if possible with my next one.
