I'm going to echo what many have said in here. As one of the Pirogue Build participants I am honored to say I was able to spend a weekend with Fish and his family. Although Pepperidge let me stay in his camper, Fish still opened his home to us all that where there that weekend and even fed a few of us dinner that Saturday night.

Along with being a weekend I'll never forget, Fish will be a man I and many of us here on the OB will never forget.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the entire FishFighter family. May you soon find peace and forever remember all the good times you had with him.

He was a great poster with TONS of insight. He will absolutely be missed on this board FWIW.

And prayers sent for you all.

I am so sorry for y'all's loss. Your Dad and Family have been in my prayers for some time. My Dad also had ALS. It's a terrible disease. Your Mind is a prisoner in its own body.

So sorry for your loss! Prayers to you and your family. I also pray that I am able to have half the impact on my children's life that he seems to have had on yours.

Just seeing this somehow, but man, Fish was a hell of a ball of life values and lessons. Like many others, I’ve been around this place for over a decade, and had many “anonymous” conversations with him, as he and I had never met. These started back in the hay day of the outdoor board with several OG members drinking, eating, and chatting amongst ourselves nightly. The bond was close, so much so that it led to real life friendships, most of which are still flourishing today. Many of us were kids and young adults with not much direction or real life experience, and your dad never once hesitated to give advice and positive words. Following some of his struggle in the last couple of years has been inspiring because he never quit what he set out to do, and my God that’s character that you can never take from a man. God bless you and RIP old friend.

I’m sitting in my deer stand crying like a baby. God bless you and your family. So many memories are now running through my mind about how my dad did a lot of the outdoor stuff with me. I can tell your dad was an amazing father and man

it feels like there is something else we should be doing to honor fishfighter but I don’t know what it is. Maybe just remembering him is good enough for now

he deserves to celebrated. Let’s give it some thought

I am just catchup on the board after the holidays and am saddened by the news of your father’s passing. He was a fine man and never to busy to have a friendly chat or lend some advice if I need help with something. He will be missed by all on the board.

Since you’ve created an account, I hope you will check in from time to time. The board is really comprised of some friendly. And knowledgeable folks and can really be quite entertaining at times.

I feel the same way!

I'd say a good ole fashioned OB Get-together with tons of Bud Light in his honor around a big ole bon fire would be nice...

Anyone got the land and interest to host something like this?

So sorry to hear this. Your dad was one hell of an outdoorsman, carpenter and craftsman.

Wish I would have been able to meet him and share a few beers. May God bless and comfort your family.

I have spent the last 3 days duck hunting and fishing with my daughter, who has loved it since she was a small girl, and just saw this thread. I have the same relationship with my daughter as you had with your father but oddly enough I had the same relationship with low and behold my mother who loved hunting and fishing and was my mentor. Your post brought a heavy heart and a tear to my eye.

I’m terribly sorry for your loss. I’ve always enjoyed his posts and his knowledge and we had some good chats on here for many years.

If the responses to this thread are indicative of his real life, as I’m sure they are, I’ll say this is a testament to your fathers good fortune while he lived his life on this earth. By reading your post it’s obvious your father was blessed with one of God’s greatest gifts and earthly blessings-that of a family complete.

Remember that not a day will go by that you won’t have him in your minds eye and it will always bring a smile to your face. It’s how you and your mother move forward.

God bless.
