Sorry for your loss Roger, but that's a great tribute to your dad. He sounds like someone from a mostly lost generation who truly loved his family above all.

Man...... wish i could help you with making it easier. but, i can't.... its been just over 2 years that mom has been gone. I woke up the other morning to the most vivid dream i've had since she has been gone, had tears in my eyes and was up for 3hrs.
what i can tell you is that eventually you learn to appreciate the good times and tell stories of how they affected your life in positive ways.... lost my FIL this past september and i try to help my wife on a regular basis.
celebrate all the good he did for your family and other people. he is in a good place....
i know its cliche.... but some people still pray for others to try and help. wish you the best during this time....

Very well put, Roger.

I know one day I will have to face my Dad leaving us, and it will be a very tough one. Sounds like your pops did things on his own terms while giving to others. No amount of fame or material gain can ever amount to more than that.

Sorry for your loss.

That is a great tribute to your Father. We fathers could only wish our sons would have the same thoughts of us.

You are in my prayers.

Sorry for your loss, Roger. That's a moving tribute to your father.

Our times together will not last, but good memories will keep us connected. Make the best of the chances we have, the future is not guaranteed.

When I first saw this topic, I didn't want to reas it, but I'm glad I did. It was very nice, and the part about the fishing and camping trips reminds me of my dad and me now.

Hang on the memories and the values and pass them on. Take comfort in life and love. I hope you see him in your dreams.

My pops turned 71 on Sunday. I plan to take him along for the dove opener in a few weeks. I can't imagine losing him yet. Still so strong and my dad. Great tribute. Sorry for your loss.

Roger, so sorry you're having to go through this. I know exactly how you feel as I lost my dad just a year and a half ago.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of him.

Your Pop sounds like a great man. The kind of man we should all strive to be. Sorry for your loss.
