My son killed his first deer with my old 30-30 when he was 7. When he was 8 I bought him a .308 Weatherby Vanguard. The gun is very accurate and he has never flinched from recoil. I have always thought that when you are shooting at a deer, the excitement takes care of recoil. He is 24 now and still...

Sorry, I haven't been on the computer to respond. I talked with my county agent and he said probably bacterial wilt. Caused by a beetle. But I really thought I had done what I should, I started with compost and then mixed in 10-10-10 fertilizer, then planted in small hills and covered the ground ...

Need Help First garden. Planted all on Good Friday and Zucchini, beans, peas and even my corn are all looking good. But my honeydew was growing slow, but now is wilting and just dying. I have three hills of honeydew and it looks like all of them are one-by-one just not going to make it. Any advi...

Glad to hear you are doing better. I had it in November and it hit me hard. Thought I was finished with after about 4 days and then it came back. I am still on heart medicine never had any problems in my life. I thought I was in good shape, but it still kicked my butt. Stay hydrated. We didn...
I've been watching for the past week or so. Are there fewer salmon? I don't see as many jumping as I think I usually do. Also, you shouldn't have a bucket list anymore. You are living the bucket list....
Like the others have said - it depends on the kid. My son watched me kill and dress all sorts of game from the time he was potty trained. We never had livestock as "pets" so we didn't have to have that experience. My wife and I never talked about it, but I knew when he was ready. He killed h...

I got my son a .308 when he was around 10. He was not really a big kid either. He never once complained about recoil. He was always too excited to feel it! He's grown now and still shoots that rifle....
There must be more people on this board from our area than I realized. I live in the area and there are lots of rumors. Hopefully this passes without incident. ...
I know you didn't direct your question to me, but Oxford, AL has several hotels and is only a few minutes to the state park. You can see Cheaha from some of them. I know there is a Courtyard there. The State Park has cabins and chalets on the mountain as well....
Great description of this hike. I walk several miles most mornings and can see Cheaha for most of my walk. We probably take it for granted. I hope not....
