Red Dot on a pistol to dot or not to dot?

I’m trying to not buy anymore guns but I’m really wanting a P365 Fuse and right now Bass Pro has them on sale for $629 without the red dot and $899 with the red dot. All of my current pistols have the sights that came on the gun. I’m buying it on Monday because I get an additional 10% for having the club card and buying a fuse for $550 with the extra mags seems like too good of a deal to pass up.
So which one would y’all get?
Looks like the sig optic is $400.

If I wanted a red dot, I wouldn't necessarily buy one just because it comes with ine. I'd buy a gun that had a mount for an optic and get the optic I want. Red dots don't make it easier at first. It takes time to get used to picking it up. But once I got used to it, I pick up the sight quickly. Follow up shots are much faster. For concealed carry, I really like my Holosun EPS carry ($330ish). Not saying you have to go that specific route, but buying without a red dot included and buying one I know I'd want more, the price is only like $60 more than being stuck with the big red dot just because it came with a deal. I mean, the Sig red dot may be great, I'm not super familiar. Didn't pop up on my searches and I have purchased Vortex (meh, but cheap), Holosun (like), Trijicon (like).
But to the main point, I have no regrets going red dot. The guns I shoot the most have them.

My Kimber has a red dot built in, so I say yeah…

Depends on which red dot is coming on the Fuse. The Romeo X is good and I would just go with it. Sig has a habit of certain slides not taking all of their optics. Example... I have a P320 pro-cut slide but doesn't accept the Romeo1, just the Romeo1 Pro.

I have an Sig Romeo X compact on my p365.
It takes practice but it is so much faster target acquisition with it.
I would absolutely recommend the X compact. It’s a good sight.

Well I’ll get it then. If I don’t like it on that gun I’ll put it on my Mark V .22.
It’s the Romeo X compact.

Is it for concealed carry? If so, where do you carry? I find a dot prints when I carry at 3 oclock, but I normally rock AIWB anyway. IMO it's worth it regardless - I just shoot so much more accurately with a dot.

I was all in with the dot club then I tried one and hated it. Granted, I just spent very little time with it, I found it to be more of a hassle than anything.

Same. Great for shooting tiny little groups but I was pretty slow with them. The window is too small and there's too much going on with that thing on there.

Once you train and become accustomed to one, it's miserable going back to irons

I don't think it's easier than iron sights. It has it's own difficulties. But like anything, training with it fixes a lot. My wife make fun because I draw from the holster and pick up the sight ~10 times every time I pick my gun up in the safe when I get home. It's become as fast or faster than picking up the iron sights. And I can do so with both eyes open giving me much better situational awareness. I've always struggled with both eyes open on irons and no issue on the red dot at all.

My problem with them is they are unforgiving of a shitty grip. If you're consistent enough on the grab and draw, you probably shoot pretty damn well regardless of the sight. Irons are equally as unforgiving but at least you can always see the end of the barrel and you're already looking for it when the gun comes up.
At least that was my problem. Unless I consciously had a good grip first, the dot was never in the window when the gun came up. I had to switch from find dot to straighten gun out to find dot again to find target.
I love them on a rifle and I can definitely see how they would be wonderful on a pistol for someone who was good. I suck at it and having more shite on the gun to deal with just made it worse for me. I only tried it briefly though, like 5 or 6 range trips before it came back off.

Ditto. Our agency went to all red dot service weapons a couple years before I retired last summer. I'm too much of an old fart and couldn't get used to it. When I went back to the range to qual, I just used the iron sights under the mount.
(Plus, my biggest weakness with tactical shooting is I could never shoot with both eyes open. I know, I know)

I have a shake awake holosun on my dagger and I like it.
Once it's dialed in, you don't necessarily have to level it with the iron sights. The bullet is going where the dot is. You just have to get used to quickly finding the window and the dot. If you move your head 6 inches right or left, the dot disappears from the window. (If that makes sense.)

Is that a mounting plate? Looks integrated.
Love mine…the OP should buy the right German gun though.

This model Canik has a place for an optic.
That HK is sweet!

Picked up the Sig P365 Fuse with the red today. Now I need to find a good holster.
