Nothing too intense, just need some warm socks for when it's in the 20s-30s to wear with my boots. I've only got one pair of wool socks and I got them as a gift over a decade ago and they have no label on them so I have no idea where they came from. Obviously looking for something comfortable preferably with some cushioning. Should I look for a full wool sock or some kind of blend?

I have two pair of Smart Wool socks. They're very warm but the issue is if you are wearing pull on boots, they will not stay pulled up.

Not and issue for boots with laces (at least for me) but on cowboy boots and rubber, it drives me up the wall.

I wear smartwool. Both them and darn tough are made in America. I prefer mid weight to heavy weight.

Smartwools base layers are also legit

I have pretty much thrown out every sock I own that isn't smartwool or danish endurance merino. I hear good things about other ones, but these are the two I have experience with. I'll never buy another pair that isn't one of these.

I lie. I once had a pair of Ascend merino socks that were awesome too.

Is this an issue after wearing a few times? I bought some for a trip to Colorado, but I've only worn and washed them once

I've had issues with Smartwool itching and falling down, which is why I made the switch to Darn Tough.

They don't itch and they have a lifetime guarantee. I've like 2 pairs that one side got stretched out and I sent the pair back, and they sent me another pair for free.

Awesome company.

They have a lifetime warranty. My son has sent some back before and they sent him a new pair.

Have had Smartwool for a long rime. Started wearing DarnTough along with SW and prefer the SW. Have logged many miles under all conditions hunting, trail running and hiking and have not had issues.

How's the warranty process on them? I bought 3 pairs this year and my boots already wore holes in the tops of them. They're warm as all hell, though. I've been wearing a few pairs of the hiker crews to work and they've held up great.

Ive tried them all, and carhartt extreme wool socks are the best and most comfy for me.

I find it interesting we have 3 posters needing/have done an exchange for warranty work/repairs etc. They can't be that great.

I've got smartwool socks that are 13 years old still going strong. I've never had a hole anywhere else besides the bottoms of my feet. And it took many years for that to happen.

All I wear is wool socks if I'm wearing socks.

I picked up some Dickies spun acrylic thermal socks at Walmart in Arkansas last month during a trip there. They were were a bit thinner than traditional wool socks but they were warm in my cowboy boots in the snow over a pair of silkies. Don't remember the name of them, just black Dickies acrylic thermal socks.

SW - they last for yrs - I live in Canada and start wearing mine in Nov thru Mar so they are excellent value. Plus merino wool doesnt retain odour so you can wear for many days before washing.

Well, they are really good socks that with an unconditional warranty that replaces socks if they get worn out..

however, with that said I should have explained further. my son actually got his replaced when he lost one of each pair he had. He had a mismatched pair he sent back and they sent him a new pair. That's not normally covered.

The hiker crew socks that I have are awesome. They have held their shape and feel pretty new even though I wear each pair 2 or 3 days a week. My lab got ahold of one pair when she was a puppy otherwise they'd be perfect.

I lace the top of my hunting boots tight on the 3 pairs of boot socks I bought back in August (I said this year forgetting it's 2022) and the friction has worn through two pairs. Probably 50 or 60 miles of walking on each pair. They're still very much wearable but I just filed a warranty claim and will be sending them off tomorrow. We will see what happens there. Not happy they got holes but they're the most comfortable socks I've ever worn hunting.

I wore smartwool until I happened up on a pair of sheels brand wool socks. They have outlasted all the smartwool and other brand wool socks I own. Few pair are 5+ years old and worn in cycles of 6 months of the year.

This is a giant plus. When I tell people I wear the same pair of socks for 7-10 days during turkey season when I hunt every day and they barely even smell when I decide to swap out for a fresh pair they can't comprehend it.

Exofficio boxer briefs
Smartwool socks
Terramar wool base layer....

Even at my worst they won't know it.
