I'd buy a stainless REm 700 in .270. I'm not a Tikka fan boy either but these somb's around here are. SEcond choice, Win Mod 70. IMO, the cheaper Rugers and Savages feel as such, as did the Tikka I handled. And that accutrigger looks cheap.

I've spent 20 years thinking my Browing A-Bolt was a solid rifle. Is that not the case?

it is a very solid rifle.

it was hilarious that he knocked the tikka and recommended an x-bolt, which costs a couple hundred more and doesn't even have an accuracy guarantee

My xbolt is the best shooting rifle that I've ever owned or shot. Of course I've never shot the Tikka either

Rifles that shoot 1/2MOA w/o some tweaking and finagling are boring. I like to tinker and get one right. Recently bought a Mod 70 second hand and did not think I was ever going to get it right.

Same here mine has been flawless with minimal cleaning for 20 years. NO surface rust on the stainless barrel and is still a tack driver. Browning A-Bolt .270 win stainless stalker with B.O.S.S.

MOA promises are as pointless as tits on a boar hog. MOST shooters can not consistently shoot sub MOA groups and promises are only as good as the results.

take a look at this article:

LINK

Savage Axis 30.06 $329
3 shot group .869 inches
10 shot group 1.004 inches

Tikka T3 30.06
3 shot group "well under 1 inch"
10 shot group 1.18 inches

Thus in a hunting situation 26 dead deer but one hunter spent much more money.

or this article most accurate factory rifles 07-08

from same article

but I was surprised when 10 rounds of .30-06 came in at 1.18 inches, with no cool down. The highest variance in that string was lateral, which it shouldn’t be on a 90 degree day in south Florida. It should string vertically because the barrel is hotter and more floppy. That suggests that it was human error opening the 10 round group to over an inch.

Carson, The Ruger Precision or the Tikka T3x CTR?

6.5 Creedmoor is the only caliber I'd consider.

I read that, but that is speculation or a suggestion as to why the results of the shooting were poor. My point holds. The Savage is every bit as accurate (if not more so based on data) than the Tikka. Sure shooter error may have played a role but it will in any normal shooting situation also. So if a well trained shooter shooting multiple sub MOA rounds is presumably not good enough to out shoot either rifle's inherent accuracy, why waste money on a more expensive tool to do the same job?

I have this (pre-64). Think it was built around 1942 ish. When my father gave it to me it still had original Weaver 2.5 fixed power scope and original sling. Gun shoots as well today as when it was new and I'd put it up against any of the new ones.
