Hardly a scientific article or experiment but goes to show that both rifles perform well, and if you are happy with the Savage, great and you saved some money, but to say that there is nothing different between the two is just false. The biggest difference is the 3 shot MOA out of the box guarantee, if it does not shoot MOA, ship it back to the factory and they will shoot it and send you the proof or fix the rifle until it does, Savage does not have this guarantee.

Savage does not have this guarantee
Nor do they need to advertise a gimmicky guarantee.
They just shoot sub MOA out of the box for under 4 bills.

Never heard of such crazy nonsense.

MOA promises are as pointless as tits on a boar hog. MOST shooters can not consistently shoot sub MOA groups and promises are only as good as the results.
take a look at this article:
LINK
Savage Axis 30.06 $329
3 shot group .869 inches
10 shot group 1.004 inches
Tikka T3 30.06
3 shot group "well under 1 inch"
10 shot group 1.18 inches
Thus in a hunting situation 26 dead deer but one hunter spent much more money.
or this article most accurate factory rifles 07-08
the articles are from 2010 and 2008. both rifles have made several innovations since then.
MOA guarantees are very important. if i cant shoot MOA with a rifle, i can send it back and receive proof that it indeed does shoot MOA, or an accurizing treatment with proof that it now shoots MOA
even if you dont care about an MOA guarantee, the other features i outlined are worth the difference.
i get an incalculably higher number of savages back for repairs than i do tikkas. we sent back less tikkas than any other production rifle manufacturer last year. like i said, everyone raves about them and they sell very well for us.
if you like savages, then by all means, shoot savages.

ANSWER MY QUESTION!!!!
It's rather unimportant

Carson, The Ruger Precision or the Tikka T3x CTR?
6.5 Creedmoor is the only caliber I'd consider.
you will overpay if you find a RPR in 6.5, and the CTR doesnt have a timetable for wide release yet. if you're benchrest shooting, PRP. if you're hunting or a combo of hunting/target shooting, Tikka

I do, and I will. Didn't you come out and hunt hogs? What was the rifle you brought chambered in .260 IIRC? was that a Rem 700?
Own 5 savage rifles love 4 of them. The 4 I love all shoot Sub MOA 3 shot groups.
The magazine on the .22LR makes the rifle a loser for me. I would never recommend one to anybody.

Durability is important. None of mine have needed repairs either.
Serious question, can you get Tikkas with flush mount detachable magazines?
Btw, arguing firearms is a good way to pine through a dull day at the office.

I didn't. Bapple told me all about it though

good! im not knocking savages at all, I had a Trophy Hunter in 308 that I got via trade-rape that shot .7MOA at 200 yards with a POS scope and POS bipod and zero aftermarket mods. im just saying that i believe the Tikkas are worth the extra $250. the feel of the stock and action just werent to my liking.

it's the only reason I didn't get a MkII FV-SR. magazine is straight up junk. you'd think someone would make an aftermarket mag for it. they shoot lights out though

not that i know of. the bottom metal isnt conducive to a flush fit. almosts all of the Sakos have flush steel mags though. the polymer mags that come with Tikkas are probably its biggest weakness.

What I love about my Tikka is the trigger. It's the lightest touch I've ever had. I put the very tip of my finger on the trigger and just think about adding pressure and the gun goes off. Scares me every time.
Love the action too. Only thing I don't like is the clip.

Another huge advantage of the Tikka, you can adjust the trigger pull with an allen wrench down to 2 pounds

Didn't know that. As a kid growing up I was subject to the urban legend that anything less than 5# was illegal or something.
My trigger came that way out of the box, and it's borderline frightening.

Bayou. I live in Ontario and in the lower third of the province the max calibre allowed for hunting is 270. Ya it's stupid but keeps the 30 06 308s etc up north. It's just the way it is. No moose in lower third so no issue. You can shoot anything you want at the range just can't hunt w it
