Rat Shot in 22LR Pistol

Dad always carried his 22LR revolver loaded with "rat shot" with us fishing in case of snakes (his words). I know the powder charge on a rat shot round probably is not enough to cycle an auto (or is it?? has tech changed?).
Not looking for a Judge or anything like that, if I'm gonna buy a revolver, that's fine but I'm curious if there are any 22LR semi autos that will cycle with a 22LR (or 22WMR) rat shot type round. I've also seen 9mm shot shells and was wondering on those too.

No experience with the 22LR rat shot. However, the 9mm rat shot will not cycle on my HK VP9. Haven’t tried it in one of my other 9mm though. My snake/rat gun is a cheap small 38 revolver that fits in my pocket.

I'm not aware of any 22 or 9 semi autos that will cycle rat shot. You could probably play around with recoil springs and find something that would work or just manually cycle it like I do.

I have a browning buck mark that will cycle them if it is really lubed up and clean. The cci rat shot.

They’ve been hard to find but they make the rat shot in 22 WMR too. I keep a cheap heritage rough rider in 22 WMR and shoot rats out of my chicken coop with it.

Never tried it in my Walther because I don't want the cap to break during cycling and scatter the little BBs throughout the gun.

Just get a heritage rough rider or a ruger wrangler.
Both under $200. You can get the Heritage around $100 sometimes.

I know my Ruger Mark 2 won't.
But my Ruger Single Six has zero issues and is just cool as shite cocking that hammer every shot. It's like you're letting them know...

My browning buckmark and SW mp-22 will not cycle any of the ratshot I have tried. Not sure of any others.

I dont think so. I think the wrangler is an aluminum frame rig. Basically a higher quality rough rider.

Correct; the Wrangler is a lower production cost Single Six that is mostly aluminum. Note that there is a Wrangler, which has fixed sights and is .22 LR only, and a Super Wrangler that has adjustable sights and an extra cylinder that shoots .22 WMR. The Wranglers are neat guns and very affordable. If I did not already own a convertible Single Six, I'd buy the Super Wrangler. There is not enough difference between the two to justify the high cost of a Single Six at today's prices.
