One of many reasons I think shotguns make a lousy home defense weapon.

See the lack of spread in the buckshot pattern in the wall...including the pass-through in the bathroom.

I can't think of anything better than pump action w/ 18" inch barrel and #4 buckshot.

Nevermind the intruder had the shotgun. Winner had a revolver.

Sawed off and don't use buckshot. Number 6's will do fine in close quarters

I always thought the first two shells #6s were for inside the house and then you hit em with the buckshot or a slug when they were running away.

I recommend #6 shot (yes, birdshot) for household range shotgun engagements. Little wider spread and hits as a solid mass, for impact purposes. Much less likely to penetrate inside walls to kill/injure kids or neighbors.

#6 in the chamber and second shot, subsequent shots can be buckshot, in case the intruder is armored. Everyone has had a chance to take cover if you get to the 3rd and subsequent shot.

You don't get any spread worth mentioning.

-Using an 870
-18.5 inch barrel
-00 buckshot

EVERY 00 pellet will hit a Treasury Silhouette EVERY time.

Not too many of us have a 20+ yard long hallway or room in our house.

May as well have a carbine where you can get off quick follow-up shots and more of them.

We not talking bout inside the house? I've got the bases coeved. As posted before my bedroom arsenal for home defense:

That's a thermal imaging scope on the AR with a detection range of over 1000 yrds. They can run, but they can't hide.

Is there a non-shotgun that gets more spread?

Yeah but it sounded like in the video the intruder assumed the homeowner was unarmed.

Off the paper sometimes. With rifles, too.

that way you can go to jail! Hooray!!

A double-barrel shotgun has advantages inside due to its short length

That's because there is nothing better than that inside a house.
