The Colt has the 80s firing system and the Kimber doesn’t.

School me a little more...I know nothing of the 1911's.

The 80s firing system has a few more parts.
It’s a firing pin block and a few more moving parts that can be a drag on the trigger pull. If you didn’t know you’d likely never know the difference, however.
I will say that many of the higher end 1911 manufacturers do not use the 80s firing system.

So I’ve been looking at the SW1911 E-Series for a while now. Last week it dipped under $700, and I couldn’t resist.
I’m glad I got it. It is such a bargain, probably the best deal in the 1911 market right now. It is the closest to custom I’ve seen in a production gun. Can’t wait to get to the range and test it out.
This is a stock image, not my actual gun.

Between those two, get the Colt. I'd throw Springfield into that as well. Probably the best 1911 at their price point.

That STI is sexy AF
Thanks. It's not a safe queen either. I've got around 5000 rounds through it and it runs like a sewing machine. STI makes some top notch stuff.

I got my E series two weeks ago and expecting 1,000 rounds of ammo to show up today. Nice looking gun.
Whoever knew a free board could be so expensive

i almost bought an STI Costa Carry Comp a few weeks ago, but now I'm leaning towards a Tri-11 from Triarc Systems. Played with one of their guns at Interstate and couldn't believe how nice it was.

I'm buying one next year.

Those Triarchs are sweet. If I don't build an all out open gun, my next 2011 will be the STI Omni. That thing touches me in all the right places.

Been looking at the STI 2011 DVC. Shot a guys at the club at it pretty much ruined me on anything else.
Actually been looking at possibly trying to build one.

That sounds like an awesome deal. I've heard good things about the Smith and i would guess there are right up there w/ Sig for quality and reliability.

I have read nothing but positive reviews on the SW1911s. I research like hell before I buy firearms, and they are highly thought of. And of course S&W is top-notch as far as customer service and making things right.
