I love inherited guns. Nothing beats an old gun with family history. I have several but I want to hear the most treasured one each of you have and the story behind it. Mine is a Walther PPK. My grandfather killed a nazi officer and took it off of him. That may just be an old war story he just told us . He told me the story all the time. I'd love to be able to hear it from him one more time. The gun has the original leather holster with a swastika on it.

I have one also. Cleaned out Dad's house in November and found it loaded. Wth?!!?
My Dad's old Trooper MK .357 revolver bought in 1977 that's only been shot 9 times is pretty special to me.

16 gauges are awesome. My first shotgun was a Remington 1100 16 gauge. It was my dad's. Haven't shot it in years but I just cleaned it and will use it for squirrels this year.

So what was the story? I'm interested.

I have my grandfather's deer rifle. Nothing too old (early 90's) but i have many fond memories hunting with him and seeing him carry that rifle. He was a short man @ 5ft tall and that rifle was only about 9-10" shorter than him

Browning A-bolt 7mm rem mag in s.s. with custom muzzle break and swarovski 4x12x56.

Paw Paw's H&R 12ga. Single shot squirrel/rabbit killin machine. Not the fanciest high dollar gun, but it was his, now it's mine, and one day when he's ready, it'll be my son's. That's where the treasure is.

I have a couple.

1979 Marlin 39A. It was my grandpa's and I never knew him.
Remington 1100 410. Also my grandpa's.

I have matching sweet 16 and light 12 that are 70's models from him as well, but they're in kinda rough shape.

He was fighting in France. He will always said how much he hated the French before continuing on with the story so it's only fitting I include that. They were in a line and he and his buddies saw one laying on the ground. They passed on it thinking it was connected to a bomb. The next town over they got into a gun battle. He shot one in an adjacent building. After the fight was over they went clear the building and he took the officers pistol. He took an hour to tell the story but this is cliff notes. How true every word was I don't know but I like to believe him.

Got an old Springfield 1903 chambered in .30-06. Was always told it was my great grandfather's war rifle, but I know for a fact that it was his deer hunting rifle. He, along with my pawpaw and his brothers killed plenty deer with this rifle.

Got a 1975 "The Marshall" Double-Nine, .22 Revolver. I want to say these were special editions made in '73-'75. Can't remember off the top of my head.

My grandpa used it as his snake gun for all these years until he passed in '14. It still has a great finish and beautiful look to it. When I have a son, it will be his one day.

My grandfather's old S&W. I think it is a .32. When he passed away in 1985 it went to California with my Uncle. After my uncle passed away it was sent back to me.

Not very valuable, but I have a Winchester model 67 ss .22 that my great grandfather gave my dad in the mid '40's. He had given him a fiddle as a small child, but he never learned to play it and as times were pretty lean then, they couldn't afford lessons. He traded the fiddle for the rifle (used) and that started a lifetime of hunting. My dad turns 74 this year and still enjoys the outdoors like a youngster.
I learned to shoot very young with it, and killed several rabbits and squirrels. It probably won't have much meaning to him, but my son learned how to shoot iron sights from the back porch with it when he was 5, and hopefully will keep it for his son.
