My dad inherited a 1914 Luger P08 from my grandpa. It appears to be the paratrooper version with the long barrel and a detachable stock. It's absolutely gorgeous and I see no chance it of ever being sold.

Pop didn't actually fight with it, but he was in Germany in the post war era when the Germans were still not allowed to own guns. He was in an American division that worked hand in hand with the Germans to collect weapons from civilians who still had them. The story goes that when it was collected, a spent shell casing was still stuck in the action, which jammed and ultimately led to the soldier being killed. No telling how true that is, it didn't come to me in that condition and I've never fired it.
One of the thing that causes me the most pain is not writing down some of these stories before Pop died last month.

I inherited my Great Grandfather's Remington Sportsmans 58. Maybe not all that expensive but what's so special is this man loved to squirrel hunt. He left the house one morning to do that very thing he loved and never returned. They found him propped up against a tree with this shotgun in his arms.

I have also inherited a Colt Match Target .22, a Belgian Browning sweet 16, a LC Smith Trap grade, all are incredible guns.

My great granddad left me a Winchester 1894 in .25-35 WCF. Made around 1912 if my research is correct. She's more than a little banged up but shoots just fine, even though it's hard to come by ammo for it (hell, even getting brass to reload is next to impossible). Best part of the gun is that it has half of an old buffalo nickel for a front sight. Apparently the sight broke off and he had to fashion one in the field for it. He was dead when I inherited it so I never got to ask the man himself exactly what circumstances led to that nickel being mounted on there. It shoots as straight as any factory iron sight I've ever used though, so I'm not complaining.

I have a Winchester Model 97 and a Model 12 that I inherited. These guns were passed around by family in Chackbay, Thibodaux area. Would love to know how many animals have been taken with them

Not positive but I'm sure I could get an expert antique firearm expert to read all the symbols on it. I'm pretty sure it was built in Poland from what I looked up in the past. Still a work of art to know it's 102 years old.

Luger has a cool backstory to it. German shot at grandpa with it while they were clearing out a church in a small town somewhere in France. The gun jammed after a shot or two so the German threw it at grandpa in desperation. I asked what happened after that (was a little kid at the time so didn't know better) but never got an answer....anyways, grandpa figured it was a lucky gun so he shipped it back home along with a ton of other stuff. Guns, swords, knives, flags, etc,

My dad gave me my grandfathers old Winchester 30-30 a few weeks ago. Shot it for the first time this past weekend. Sweet shooting gun. I will use it to take a deer this year in honor of my grandfather.

My old hunting buddy who was many years older than me who was friends with the whole world and I got to share the blind with many of them. He passed and only shot double barrels in the blind, he left them all to me, a model 21 with a serial number in the 300's. I treasure all four of the doubles he left me but the model 21 is my most "treasured".

I have a Winchester Model 12 16 gauge that was my grandfather's. He handed it down to my father when he was a kid to hunt with and my dad did the same to me when I was about 15. I still shoot it as it is my defacto rabbit hunting gun.
