So let's get to the real meat of the issue here. Is this basically the head of LDWF?

I spoke with her today after the press conference. Very intelligent. She is a hunter and a degree from Ohio state. I can’t remember for sure but the best I can remember it was biology and agriculture. She said they were going to look at the bear situation to see about a real season. Also spoke about the hog problem and the bogie boats. I don’t think she will be pushed around. She did not talk nor act like your normal young person of these days.
Jesus Christ.
I don't care if she was born and raised in Louisiana, whose family had a registered hog mark, helped track bear collars, hunted and fish every day of her life, ran a shrimp boat/salt water guide service and had a Doctorate in Wildlife Biology.
She is a 26 year old yankee who I bet had never set foot in the state of Louisiana with absolutely no experience in ANYTHING outside of politics. How would she know anything about the bear situation? How would she know anything about the decades long hog problem of this state??? What does she know about the gulf?
She is 26!
I voted for Landry and I cannot think of a single justification of this appointment. This is obviously a political payback or political set up for the future and will in no way help LDWF.

Nice to see Louisiana political corruption is still alive and well!

I said this in the thread on the political board, but I’ll ask it here too.
How is she more qualified than any of us that actually hunt and fish in Louisiana?

^^^ THIS ^^^ is the response we needed to read.
Thank you for providing that insight. I might not be a LA baw but as an avid outdoorsman I am deeply concerned about wildlife/conservation departments across America. We don't need PETA extremists involved in wildlife management- we need hunters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts who wish to keep our resource balanced and desirable for generations to come.
This is most definitely a political appointment with networking connections for Landry, but your comment gives me reason to believe that LA just might benefit from this appointment. An outsider might be just what the doctor ordered.

I don’t care if she’s gay or just ugly I don’t care if she’s a hunter or from Ohio or louisiana.
She’s 26yr old and put in charge of a 182million dollar a year budget just because she’s connected politically.

The upturned black collar isn't the only similarity I see.....

I guarantee I manage more employees as a business owner day to day than she ever has in her life. So again, tell me specifically what it is that makes her uniquely qualified for this position.

No one should be surprised by this appointment from Landry. I will give her the benefit of doubt considering the corruption surrounding this position from recent Secretaries who held this position.
Jack Montoucet - Resigned due to bribery scandal. (no surprise, appointed by JBE)
Charlie Melancon - Resigned due to allegations of corruption. He lasted 11 months.
Robert Barnham - Accused of misappropriating BP funds (Journey South Outfitters benefited from this significantly)
Not a list of total winners in my book.
It won't take long to figure out whether it's more of the same, or if she will make desperately needed changes to the management of our wildlife and fisheries.
First order of business should be the banning of the Pogey Boats.

Hope she can get more representation across the state out of the Wildlife Commission. Bunch of hacks.

Maybe not, but being one and experiencing the results of the departments policies is better than no experience at all. Which is what she has.
