Took a little ride to Lockport, picked up a dozen nets at Adam’s. These nets are heavy duty compared to what you find Walmart etc.

Just how much are a decent dozen of nets going for now? It's been years since I've had nets and feel like it's time to get some with the cost of live crabs being what they currently are.

$14 dollars a pc or $150 a dozen I think.

They also sell the stainless baitclips for $1 each.

ETA; I went back Friday and Caught 81 till a rainshower ran us off. Only ran my dozen 7 times.

That's really not bad if they are nicely made nets. With the cost of live crabs, you can recoup that expense in one or two outings if you run into the crabs.

I live in N.O. and it would be nothing to drop a dozen or more nets along the seawall of Lake Pontchartrain. The only issue is securing the lines somewhere along the seawall. There's miles of it along Lakeshore Dr. and easy to be away from plenty of folks, especially during the weekdays when folks are working.

For crabbing seawall at the lake - tie the end of your line to a piece of wooden stake that’s about a1x2 and 6” long. Throw net out, wedge stake into the crack between two sections of seawall. You can wrap the line around the stake for storage also.

Yeah, now that you mention it, that is how I remember doing it as a kid when my uncle would take his 4 boys and me out there to crab and fish.

Wood stakes at the joints. Two nets cast out at a 45. Did that for many years.

Ran around PAC area a little bit over the weekend. I've never seen so many people crabbing in my entire life. All the canals looked like someone got drunk and shuffled around a bunch of tiny channel markers.
