I'm down to 3. LMT, LaRue or JP.
My vote goes to LaRue. Only because I want you to come back and tell us all about it. At least once a year I go looking at them but yet to pull the trigger. A sterling review might sway me.

Not that long ago, maybe a year? you could get Larue barrels and uppers for very reasonable prices. I was looking at a 7.62 Ultimate Upper Kit (no longer offered) and with a Larue lower it was coming in around $1500. His price structure has damn near doubled in a fairly short period.

I went carbon fiber route. BSF carbon 20” with a SLR adj gas block

JP has had quality issues lately with duty rifle contracts, so I’d stick with LaRue in the pricey strata.

I have a Rock River LAR-8 that has never let me down.

This is the one I went with. I don't have a ton of experience in other AR10s but I do enjoy this rifle a lot.

I ended up ordering a Seekins SP-10. Decided to save a few bucks over a LaRue on the AR10 because I plan on splurging on a 6.8.

Sorry for the late reply. It’s fine. I haven’t done any mods yet but don’t have specific complaints.

I love mine. It is for sure the upper tier of the AR platform. For what it costs you for sure get what you pay for. Put some good optics on it and you are gtg.

My only downside is I don't put enough rounds through her down range.

Got my Seekins Precision SP-10 with a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x and an Atlas PSR bipod.

I plan on a suppressor, thinking the Rugged Variant 7.62. Any thoughts?

I plan on getting a thermal at some point.

I haven't bought a suppressor since they changed the trust rules but I have 2 Silencerco Omega cans that are outstanding. Plenty or mounting options. I use Q Plan B mounts.

What do you guys think about Springfield Armory Saint series?

Used to be a decent value for what you got. Not sure now.

If money isn't a problem, I'd get the SCAR 17S

I have an Armalite AR10. Shoots great. Not sure what else you could want.

Shoot it and tell me how much you care.

It's sweet as hell. Extremely accurate. Light recoil. Can take a beating. I've shot it, it's freaking nice.

If they would gussy up that boot a bit, would totally change my perception.

Anybody have any experience with the DD5 308?

Seems like it's actually a "deal" (relative) to the LMT and SR25 and seems to be in similar class and design (forged, ambi receivers and dead accurate combat grade barrels, and mil-type BCG).

Also is much lighter than the LMT and way way less and more available than the SR25.

Can get one of these for probably around $2300 right now.

If not locked into an AR10 and I was looking for a cool 308, I would look at an M1A. If I wanted something for SHTF, HK 91. M!A is a great looking functional and reliable weapon. The HK has a roller delayed blowback action that is extremely reliable and pretty indestructible, it will also eat anything.

I went total budget at this caliber...
Picked up a C308 for just over $500 right before everything went to hell, have been fortunate to get a good one. And it's nice to have, oh, $50 worth of surplus Cetme mags laying around. Note, that's from when you could get them for about $2.50 a mag.

My son got interested, and wanted something more in the AR format. Doing a little research revealed what was stated above- compatibility is a bigger issue at this caliber.
Ended up putting almost $600 into a BCA upper and lower, and so far so good. It runs, and is accurate enough.

I'd love to buy an upper tier weapon, but I just use the remaining money for ammo, and figure I will try to learn the guns I have.

Not related to the OP's post but putting a Larue plug in for their Meticulously Built Trigger. Larue changed the trigger game with this trigger, he undercut the big dogs 200+ triggers and is currently selling the 2nd gen version for 89$, I swapped all of my 6.8's over to it.
