GEC for a old school classic look for around $100

There's a bunch of makers that will do a custom knife for that price, I like the Winkler knives. Also, Dirk Loots makes a VERY nice knife.

Talk to Lee at Olde Towne Cutlery He's a good guy and will hook you up.

I will never buy another brand besides Buck as a classic.

The best customer service in the business.

I've got a Keith Murr and it is very nice... guaranteed you can find something you like, as well as within your budget from him.

Just get the man the yellow handle case trapper lock and put the other $450 back in your pocket. One of the best pocket knives around and is a classic.

940 is always a classic but wouldn't be as nice without the clip like the OP wants. Proper with the micarta scales is nicely rounded, won't snag in a pocket and micarta has a great grippy texture. Seriously thinking about making my own micarta blanks for a knife I plan to make.

Puma with stag handles. Made 100% in Germany, not an IP puma or one made in China. Duke, Earl or Prince model.

Benchmade does engraving in house. Takes a couple of weeks though. Probably cheaper to buy a knife and take it to someone, but Benchmade is nice as you can get it all done online in like 10 minutes and be done with it shipped to your door.

I think for what they charge and the options it's cheaper than taking it to a local shop. You can have very detailed work done and it's just plain fun to build knives under your account and save them. Next time I have $300 burning a hole in my pocket I have a custom S20V Crooked River ready to order...

The Benchmade mini Crooked River is now on their custom option page too. If you really want something unique that would be a good option.

I bought the regular crooked river a few months ago. Love that knife. Of course, I promptly lost it in a week.

Getting some gear out of my truck yesterday I found it. It felt like winning a lotto ticket.

Ended up going with the Case Stockman with jigged buffalo horn. Case also offered engraving.

Will be my kids first knife this Christmas. Plan on getting them a knife every five years once they are 10.
