Hoppe's No. 9?

Rem Oil?

How about for pistol slides?

I know everyone has their magic formula or brand or preference but just want to revisit as deer and duck season winds down

Here lately, it's been either ATF, 15w40, and/or whatever grease is in my grease gun. Has seemed to work fine. I use hoppes #9 bore solvent on the rare occasion that I clean a barrel.

Break Free CLP. If it’s good enough for Uncle Sam, by God, it’s good enough for me!

I've kind of switched to boretech products.

I had some tetra gun grease and that stuff broke down in the tube so I haven't used it since.

I been using the Lucas stuff or royal purple maxiflim. I loved the Royal purple gun lube they used to make but they no longer make it.

Been using Valvoline Restore and Protect, and it has worked just as good or better than any dedicated CLP I've tried. A 5 gallon bottle will last a long time.

Use ballistol on any black nitrate finish. Lucas oil on my handguns and Kroil on AR’s.

I made a batch a long time ago with trans fluid, mobil1 oil and STP oil treatment. I made about 2qts and been using it seems like 10-12 years with no issues. I think I got the recipe on a Natl Match forum

I procured a gallon jug of Breakfree CLP when one of my old units was moving out of their old reserve center in 2009. I think I have over 90% of it left and will probably have quite a bit left after I leave this mortal coil. I have 2 large bottles of Hoppes #9 and some moly grease...and that's it.

If it slides grease it, if it rotates then oil it.

Terta Gun heavy-duty synthetic flouropolymer lubrication

Rem Oil

I own M1 Garands, other mil-surps, and modern firearms and the above mentioned items work well for me.

Lube: CLP or Kroil, depending on which smell I prefer at the time.
Gun oil for cleaning barrel: Pistols are treated w/ CLP.
Rifles get Hoppe's #9 for a light cleaning. For a more serious cleaning I'll use combination of Wipe Out, Butch's Bore Shine and Hoppe's #9. If the barrel's heavily fouled it gets treated w/ JB Bore Paste (for heavy powder fouling) or Shooter's Choice Copper Remover (heavily fouled w/ copper).

I was a breakfree fan for yrs but like Lucas clp. Seems to clean better. For a heavier oil I like rem oil.

That's what the moly grease I have is for. It just a 1lb tub of Mobil 1 synthetic bearing grease. My Garand, M1A, 1911, Beretta, Glock, H&K, and rear of bolt-action rifle lugs all get a very light treatment. Funny thing about the original spec for grease and the Garand, the only thing that was specified was resistance to water washout. Pretty much every modern grease, even food-grade, will meet that spec. I'm actually thinking about going to Mobil Polyrex EM grease, have several tubes of it and it doesn't bleed.

I'm not a fan of products like CLP. How can something clean off grease and then apply a lubricant at the same time? I clean with non-chlorinated brake cleaner and then use various Lucus grease products

I’ve been using CRC 3-36 for at least the last decade. It even makes my ‘65 Remmy 742 Woodsmaster cycle…and that’s saying a lot, lol.
