Assuming some here would know... any help would be great.

Need more info. What kind of mower? Does it shut off as soon as it is started? When you try to go forward?
Could be one of the safety features on it. A lot of the newer mowers have sensors under the seat and other places that prevent it from moving unless someone is sitting on the seat.

Make and model? Sounds like fuel system, filter possibly. More details would be beneficial.

Pushmower? If so take off the air filter and spray some carb cleaner into that intake. Should blow out some white smoke and be good to go. Carb just gummed up a little bit.

Non ethanol fuel or does it contain ethanol?

i will assume its a riding mower
they have a shut off solenoid on the float bowl that is supposed to open to let gas in
sometimes they get varnish buildup and stick which doesnt allow gas to refill the bowl fast enough
its the long doohicky sticking out of the bottom you seee here
use a 1/2" wrench to unscrew it and then make sure it moves up and down freely, if not clean it with carb cleaner and work it with your fingers until it goes down and pops back up very easy. after that test it by hooking the wire to it and turn the key on, it should get sucked down, if it does then its working again and you can screw it back in and you are good to go.
if its working but you still have trouble then just buy a new carburetor for it. i say this because they only cost $18 and buying a rebuild kit costs 1/3rd of that, if the solenoid is bad it cost like $12 so again its better to just buy a new carb.
if its a push mower then just buy a new carb because those are like $15 and the time and cost to clean them isnt worth it
i spent a couple of years fixing lawnmowers for side money and on ebay you can buy the replacement carburetors for just about anything and they are so damn cheap its not worth rebuilding and cleaning a carb in most cases
also if you or anyone else ever used ethanol fuel check if the fuel line has good flow, i have seen fuel lines almost closed shut from swelling up inside due to the alcohol in ethanol gas

Seafoam. Add some to your gas and keep cranking it until you get some of the Seafoam gas into the carburetor. Let sit for 15 minutes and try again.

First think I would check is the oil level.
2nd, make sure air breather is c lean
3rd make sure spark plug has a good connection

Pilot jet in carb is clogged.

Sorry.
Gas push mower.
Starts up and stay on for about 5 seconds. Shuts off when I go forward but not safety feature.
It’s 4 years old. Not expensive. Not self propelled.
Not out of gas.

Clean air filter...put fresh gas in it ... spray wd40 in carberator until engine runs smooth

Wd40 will unclog the carberator. Spray it with engine running

This is the most likely culprit.

This, especially if this is the first attempt to crank after not being used since last grass cutting season.
