Great buck for bow. With only 100yrds from stand I'm surprised the dogs didn't just smell him outright.

Congrats. A dead deer in this heat will certainly last 20 hours before getting it on ice. Done it.

No I’m near the state line

I didn’t score him official. Just bullshitting with a tape measure. His main beam length and spread hurt by 10-15 inches.

Only thing I can think of is that there was so much deer traffic in that field that it had the dogs messed up. Beds every 20 yards walking through it.

Hitting high double lung all the blood pooled in the belly / chest cavity so wasn’t pumping out. Dogs where just smelling a deer like all the other deer in that field

We get on wheelers and ride the tree rows when we need a grid search. Glad you found him. Nice buck.

Congrats on a great deer! I know how terrible it feels to think you won’t recover one you shot, glad you put in the effort and found him. Kudos on a great start to the season!

Be careful with your dogs yall. Just found out a friend of mine in Mississippi lost his dog last night on a track. Heat stroke. Awesome dog. Bayed the deer then ran back to him and died.

That's an awesome buck, I'd be proud as all hell of that. Those high shots are deadly but like you said, the blood all goes to the cavity so there isn't much of a trail. Were you hunting on the ground?

Great buck......Congrats

I learned last year on mine just how screwy the track becomes , especially when what you thought you saw/heard is altered.

Will be a fine looking buck up on that wall
