Had a 2003 H51 Xpress and at the time it was the gold standard for mass produced tin rigs. Most of the other builders where still using rivets and wood in the transoms.
In this day and age manufactures have caught up and there are several really good brands of tin rigs.
I have looked at the Ranger tin rigs and they are nice, but are they now under the Nitro / Tracker umbrella since being bought by Bass Pro?

I have the Ranger RT188 and as far as build quality there's no way Xpress i on the same level. At least not present-day Xpress.
If you are leaning towards the xp17, I'd recommend a hard look at the RT188 or the RT178. Very easy boat to own from the trailer to the boat/motor. Very comfortable fishing boat also. Large front deck and a lot of storage.
It also has a 12 degree dead rise instead of 10 degree which most mod-v boats tend to have. Cuts through the water a little better.

I have a XP180 with the 70 4 stroke Yamaha on it...
5 years old and I have beat the crap out of it duck hunting, bass fishing and marsh fishing...
rhino lined camo version...
I have been very pleased...

Not sure. Other guy has dibs though.
I've seen it a few times in his shop, but it gets serviced once a year and I couldn't tell you the last time he took it out.
He works more than I do.

I love my RT188 for these reasons.

I haven't looked lately but I doubt you can get any glass boat of the same size and loadout for anywhere close to what an express costs. They're a hell of a bargain and that's the best thing about them. Not that they're shitty boats or anything by any stretch, but it's hard to find the value in a glass boat beyond ride quality when you can get an aluminum boat the same size for so much less.

I'm selling a '02 xpress with a 90hp Yamaha to get a bigger boat. Things a fuching monster, I've never had an issue with it. My next boat and motor will be xpress and Yamaha.

I own an xpress HD 18 CC and i love it. It is absolutely bullet proof. It has a 90 yammer 2 stroke that is great. The boat gets very shallow and gets me where i want to go. I will eventually upgrade to a bigger glass boat. You won't get a great ride in a slight chop, but if you are fishing protected inshore waters, lakes, or rivers you can't beat them.

Have you seen xpress bay boat prices? My buddy paid 38k for 22' bay boat last year. I know a guy on here who bought a brand new glass bay boat for near that. My bay boat was slightly used and cost less.
It's all in what you want. I had a xpress 20 bay boat and loved it but coastal fishing was tough in it. I upgraded to glass and Happy I did.
As for xpress there are plenty of other boats that are better or comparable for cheaper. Ranger is top notch

Same here. 18cc with a 90. Not good with the chop but great for protected areas of Delacroix

Besides the dry storage issue on the front deck, I love mine

Guys the gold standard in aluminum boats was raised significantly a few years ago with Havoc Boats and then Edge Boats came along and improved performance. Xpress are a stick in the mud when it come to performance as well as the others yall mentioned. Step up yalls game people

Havoc Boats and then Edge Boats
Do they make a 20ft with a steering wheel? If not, apples and oranges.
