With some rain in the forecast for this week I was debating on planting food plots this afternoon. I've never planted this late. Is it still worth it or is too late. Located right on the LA/SW MS boarder.

We haven't planted yet either. Soil is so dry it's like concrete in some areas when we try to disc.
In Poplarville, MS.

Plant winter wheat and oats, it’s never too late. In the case it’s possibly too late for some broadleaf things

Really never too late in deep south, within reason.

Yes, I understand seed needs moisture. I live in SW Mississippi and planted a couple plots 2 weeks ago before a 1/4” rainfall event. I’ve got descent growth so far from that little rain, morning dew and then rain tonight and more expected end of week.

Hell, most people plant blends that are mostly rye anyway and rye will grow on the surface of the sun

Yep.

At the very least throw rye seed out and they'll be something there for winter.
