I'm buying a ruger guide gun. It's offered in .30-06 which is most likely what I'll get, but they make it in .375 ruger and holy shite do I want it. Never know when you'll have a rogue zoo animal bust out or something.

I understand, but the thing is, moose and bears are in the same place

It should be a pretty damn good deer killer. It's completely unnecessary but it's a moderate velocity caliber and shouldn't destroy it or anything. It'll probably bust up less meat than a 130gr .270 bullet.

I too am trying to find a reason NOT to get a 375 H&H. The best one I can find is the cost of ammo. That probably won't stop me though.

Nah that's no excuse. Once it's sighted in good it should just be 1 bullet per deer or rogue engine block, right?

Very, very true. It might just be my small penis, but something is so appealing about knowing I could have 1 gun to kill ANYTHING

Can't lie, I love shooting it. Recoil isnt bad in that heavy gun but it gets your attention. I guess its more of a shove than a punch.
I got 3 dust covered boxes of Fedeals for $40 each from hunters run. I dont think they even knew they had them. That plus what came with the gun will last me a while.

30-30 and some brass knuckles

I have a single shot 12 ga slug gun that weighs a couple ticks over 4 pounds. If there's a gun out there that kicks harder than that thing does with 535 gr lightfeild slugs, I don't want anything to do with it.

308 ar10 style. You can hunt any game with that.

How much difference is there, if I shoot a grizzly with a 338 win mag at 100-150 yards vs shooting one at 20-30 yards with a 35 Whelen or 338-'06?

Depends on where you hit them.
If Im a good shot and with proper bullet placement, a 308, 7mag or 30-06 at decent range should do the job.
If Im not a good shot, I want a 458WM and a 4wheeler to haul arse with.

My whole point is that the 35 and 338 jr should be enough gun for protection from bears, if you use the right bullets. I wouldn't be pursuing bears, so I don't care if I don't have enough gun to kill them at a far off distance. (Which, they probably still can anyway)

So people take grizzly with recurves but a 30-06 isn't enough gun?

.
This. Is. Hysterical.
And correct.
I've always been intrigued by both the .375 H&H and the .300 RUM. However, if I had powerball money, I'd likely be calling Mr. Jarrett to get one of his custom built rifles in .300 Jarrett.

Me neither, but there is a real possibility they may hunt me. It's nice to deer hunt with something that packs a punch so you don't have to carry multiple firearms

I've been blessed enough to get to hunt all sorts of game, all over the world.
Shot placement and good bullet construction (appropriate round for the task) is far more important than the size or speed of the load.
I've killed a lion with a .35 Whelen. On the other hand, I made a poor shot with a 470 Nitro Express on a Cape Buffalo and it damn near got me killed. (In my defense, the guns sight had been knocked unbeknownst to me. Also, wasn't the buffalo that almost killed me, but the pride of lions who came for his carcass after I dispatched him. But, I digress...)
W.D.M. "Karamojo" Bell killed 180 elephants in a 14 month ivory hunt, most of which he killed with brain shots using either a .256 or a 7mm Mauser. All about shot placement.
I have a .416 Rigby that is my favorite dangerous game rifle, but I wouldn't want to lug it up a mountain for a ram.
So, if I was forced to choose one (rifle) caliber for all of North America's big game? Probably the 300 WM.
Funny, I don't even own one. Since I don't have to choose only one caliber, it's not my choice for any particular game.
