Same damn thing here...
That is until my wife pulls a blanket on the couch at night.... curl up like a ball as close as he can possibly get to her.

I'll say this too.... she tells me when I'm gone for work or whatever reason for a few days his alertness and protection skills get turned up a notch. She says he doesn't frick around with anyone when it's just her and him. Let the UPS dude roll by to drop something off...

I'm 100% okay with this btw....

I had a female like this. I explained to my wife that she protected the house but she didn't believe me till my wife had our daughter and was home for maternity leave. I was traveling for work and when UPS man came to the door she would try to take his head off through the window. He was scared shitless of her and my wife knew she was safe...

When my living situation gets right I'd love to get a GWP

They need lots of attention. I have two and they are great with kids but will terrorize cats, squirrels, and birds. My daughters rescued a cat and last week while I was out of town said cat gets in my engine and spare tire. $7000 later my 2016 Sierra is at the shop getting new wiring and paint work.

they are notorious for wanting to be under covers. Mine loves that shite.

Mine does too. That bitch waits til I get up at 4:30 every morning and then gets in the bed with my wife and goes straight under the covers.

But all in all a great dog. I got lucky and mine is very versatile with a strong drive to retrieve and points well too. Bitch is crazy about birds.

And they best thing is, that bitch loves me no matter how much money I spent or how drunk I got

Who did you get your GWP from? Wife and I are trying to decide between a GWP, WPG, or a Boykin.

I have considered getting one of these as a falconry dog. Basically a GWP, but with more strict hunting breeding.

Ain't that the truth!

Also something to ask the breeder.... mine advised that her males were better house dogs, but the females were better hunters and had more drive. Not that this fricker doesn't have drive

Just said that there would be more of a chance for a male not to have a retrieving drive. Mine loves it, he just hates the marsh.

Bad idea. Ask me how I know
And yes she is no further than 6" away from me or the wife when we are home. The wife bought her one of those plush blankets and folded it over and sewed it into a pouch. The dog now sleeps in that instead of my damn bed, but don't forget to lay it out for her before you get in bed or she will let you know.

My girl is 9 years old now and growing a bit neurotic (mainly storm related) but she has been the best dog I could ask for. Great with my daughter and for some strange reason fricking loves my wife's cat.

She will range fairly far but always return within a few minutes. If I tell her to stay she stays. Great dog and I'll be getting another in the future unless the wife wins and we get a GWP.

Although sometimes I wonder about her being a "bird dog"

Mine doesn't eat when I'm not around either. He is "on duty" from the time I leave until I walk back through the door.

I am on the fence between a GSP and a Vizsla.

My wife wasn't raised with pets, but I know once we get one she'll see what she's been missing all this time.

Good buddy has one, and I can confirm this. He's super hyper. He's kept inside most of the time, so that probably contributes to it. More than once I've shown up over there and ended up with a busted lip from that thing going crazy he was so happy to see me.

One thing I've noticed with a lot of these breeders is crappy websites and they're damn near impossible to get in touch with.

From what I found out Vizslas have some fricked up health issues.

I loved loved loved my griffon. Slightly hard headed, chill when it was time to chill and worked when it was time to work.

There are a number of facebook GSP hunting pages that list some really good dogs, the problems is many are not close to Louisiana. There is also a South Louisiana Vizsla club. A good breed vizsal breeder is going to interview you more than you interview them...
