Looks like they are working on about 5 Evinrudes for every 1 Mercury. I intend to buy my first bass boat in the next couple of years. Are Mercs that much more dependable?

Evinrudes are no longer made. May want to stick with Yamaha or Mercury.

Look at Tohatsu.

Mercury also manufactures engines over 75 horsepower at its facility in Fond du Lac in Wisconsin.Jan 12, 2020

There is a diesel repair shop beside one of our farms and I have noticed that they have about 10 Fords to every dodge on the lot. I always wonder if they just specialize in Fords or if Ford diesels are just that terrible. Maybe your shop specializes in Evinrudes or maybe Evinrude went out of business for a reason.

That’s about the same ratio of fords to dodges on the road, so they aren’t less reliable, just
More of them.

That probably has a lot to do with it. I have noticed that the owner drives a Sierra 3/4 ton pickup though.

Well that’s dumb. You really won’t get into a Mercury powered boat? They are kind of killing it right now.

I had a 25 e-tech circa 2012.

Regret selling it.

Sweet motor and badass 2 stroke.

Must be an evinrude place because there's probably 50 Mercury's to every etech out there

Small outboard Mercury 25 hp 4 banger.
That could have been bought under Mercury, Tohastsu, etc.
Bought Mercury due to the price, dealers close, and parts.

I had an Evinrude on my last bass boat I bought from Real Deal in Pineville, LA. I had great service and really no issues.

Just bought a new Vexus and it had a Mercury.
Not many choices when I had to wait 20 weeks for a boat. Seems to work fine so far.

Mercury is killing Yamaha when they get in the 250+ range. For a 150, the Yamaha F150 is the best IMO, there is a reason they sell more of those than anything else.
