There is a guy at my church who just got a big off shore rig with double 350s. He stopped for gas on the way home. He grabbed the nozzle and put $100 in it and the pump luckily stopped due to cc limit/transaction. All of a sudden gas started coming out of the lockers etc.

THIS DUMBASS PUT THE NOZZLE IN A RODHOLDER INSTEAD OF THE GAS FILL!!

Sorry but was too good to not share. Big money, little brain.

Seen this myself.

Launched the boat and when buddy put his key in the ignition the bilge kicked on and started pumping gas into the water.

Nothing we could do at that point.

I’ve actually heard of that happening multiple times. Never me or any of my friends, but it happens way more than you would think.

The gas fill is pretty fricken obvious, the damn thing burps when you open it. Now, I have had the damn thing overflow due to the EPA crap put on the tank, it will overflow at 1/2 a tank, I don't even know how it does it. You can't fill full speed either, 1/2 speed at most.

Might not want to put your life in his hands offshore just yet.

Thanks for the laugh. Hope all is well for that gentleman

Yeah I was going to say there’s no mistaking the pump on my boat. It’s a bitch to fill up because it’s gurgles like a toilet if you turn the gas nozzle on full blast

Oh I’ve done that several times over the 50 plus years I’ve run boats. Plow around in a circle until enough runs out and shove the plug in. It’s a bit tricky if you don’t have a fellow dumbass in the boat with you.

Sounds like one of those “more money than sense” types

If he is that dumb he has no business going offshore

My ski boat is awful. Hold the nozzle 1/4 open and it clicks off every 3-4 seconds. Takes 20 min to fill the damn thing and I don’t know why, I’ve checked and there’s no kink in the fill hose or anything

I knew a girl in high school like that. Had a Merc Cougar. Tried to gas up one day and the nozzle wouldn't go in. SHe used a pencil or a twig to hold the flap open while filling up.

It was diesel. Cost her pops quite a lot of money.

Probably Tank is vented back through the fill neck so it pressures up and clicks the nozzle off. Try putting the nozzle in just enough to get all the gas going down the hose with a gap around it.

My buddys boat does that and it pisses me off big time.

I could at least understand this mistake better than a rod holder. Kind of like how one of my employees when I asked him to fill my work truck up put diesel in the DEF tank

That was not a cheap repair
