Acquisitive Prescription.....
See, that is just plain stealing. Revenge versus this person would definitely be better than sex.

My mother tried in vain but to no avail, and the sorry sob got the property without paying a dime.

Since they fenced it in and took care of the property for over 20 years , the son filed papers to own the property out right, with no compensation. Some kinda of law in La. that says if you take care of property for so long, you can file to own it. Even though you don't pay property taxes on it.

Nope. They are from a Weslyan background, as are we. However we are more socially liberal than they. They still believe in no tv, women wear skirts, can't cur their hair, and wear it in a bun....etc.
I updates on like page four or so. My grandfather was involved and they thought this was best decision for themselves and their money. Income from the farm was only about $1000/month after current expenses, and to hire someone was going to be $1200/month.
My uncle did approach them to iniate the process, and things aren't ok there. However it's settled and I'm at peace with my gparents.

THIS IS FALSE and pure BS. I know this for a fact. Our family had to fight this in court one time. And yes, we got our land back.
OP, as much as it blows, y'all are now kicked off said land for good.

Family and money / land almost never mix.

That's not false. Obviously there are more facts to that situation, but acquisitive prescription is a very real law with very real effect.

Similar thing happened to me about a year ago.
My grandfather and his brothers built a camp in the 1940s on the Calcasieu River at Kinder. The family spent a ton of time there and many nights. I would fish, swim, tube, etc. to my heart's delight. My children even got to enjoy the camp like I did. My grandfather sold the camp to my parents for a $1.00 before he died so as to keep it in the family. Eventually my parents sold it to me and my brothers and sisters.
The problem was that the camp was on leased land. The elderly lady that owned the land only charged a nominal annual fee and said that nothing will change even after she passes on.
Well......her no account nephews started meddling. And when I say no account....I mean worthless scum. Always into shite and in trouble with the law. They started by coercing her into raising the price of the lease a few times over the last few years. That was fine since we had been getting off dirt cheap for years.
But then The elderly owner died and the land was in the will to be given to the nephews. We have no doubt they coerced her into it in her final moments. We received a letter that the land will no longer be leased and any structure left standing after December 31 of that year will be razed.
So the entire family spent New Year's Eve salvaging parts of the camp for memories. We turned it into a going away party with gumbo and music throughout the day. Once it got dark, we burned the camp to the ground! You should have seen the nephews' faces! Priceless!
It is sad we no longer have the camp and we miss the old girl. We used some of the salvaged wood to make a frame for a collage of photos as a gift to our mother.

That's a legit CSB.
Sound like something everyone would think about doing and never follow through. Awesome job.

I would be very upset they didn't tell me til the last minute
I'm in a somewhat similar situation where my grandad has land that our family homesteaded in 1832 so we are the only ones who have owned it and he has always intended on me to have it (he's an only child and my mom is as well, I have 1 sister) but he has recently ran into financial issues and has told us that he would have to sell it (it's worth ~125k) which would break his heart and I would hate it
Luckily for me I am blessed enough that my dad (grandad is my moms father) is worth a decent amount of money and my dad has offered to buy it from him that way it can stay in the family which we re all very happy about it
Not trying to flaunt my story with a good outcome but just wanted to show that I sort of understand where you are coming from I know it must feel terrible

I don't know the details of your situation but to me it sounds like your grandfather and his brother had a family farm. Your grandfather decided not to spend his life farming so he went to work being the Vice President for the worlds "second largest conglomerate" which has to be an oil company or Wal Mart. He then starts his own company all the while his brother is back on the farm doing what he loves. Probably raising cattle. Now your grandfather has retired and is thinking" I have made my way in the world and my brother has stayed here on the home place doing what he loves and has kids who are going to carry on the farming tradition so I should probably sell him my half of the family farm because he has a lot more blood and sweat invested in it than I do and my son doesn't farm anyway.
Does this sound close to the situation are am I totally off?

Not even close.
Also, not Wal-Mart or an oil company believe it or not. They were the second largest back when he worked for them in the 60s/70s/80s. Don't know about now.

Glad you got to talk it out with your grand parents. I knew our place was going to be sold eventually but still didn't make it any easier when it happened. Hell my gfriend had a drawing of the main house framed and I still haven't gotten the guts to put it up yet. Every time the power ball gets up I get a ticket just in case, throw a number at the guy who bought that he can't refuse.

I haven't followed all the details of this but my last suggestion would be to allow the dust to settle from this transaction. Once some time has passed I would write a letter with the passion about the land you are loosing to your uncle. Many of the things you have posted in here are things he may not even know. Let him know why you are saddened by loss of access to the land. Then perhaps at the end ask him if you could come visit or even come do a little work on the land from time to time to keep memories fresh.
As a land owner myself if someone contacted me in this way especially family I would have a hard time not allowing them on my land. It can't hurt IMO.
