Headed north to Tucson, then home tomorrow, if Border Patrol doesn't stop me.

We don't dog hunt anymore because it makes it very hard to manage a herd and other reasons, but there is nothing unethical about hunting deer with dogs. Why is it OK to hunt rabbits, birds , coons or squirrels with dogs but not deer?

Also keep in mind that many hunters think it is unethical to hunt deer over bait or even food plots, so don't be too quick to be judgmental about how others hunt.

I don't understand being opposed to an ethical form of hunting.

Have you looked into the eyes of a squirrel, coon or rabbit.....frick no you haven't, they are evil and will snatch you goozzle pipe out in a second.

But you look in the eyes of a deer, well, you can see their soul , deer are special and should be treated as some type of trophy...not a source of food and enjoyment...like a prom date, cept a deer doesn't screw ALL of your friends

Here is my .02

The difference in running dogs for deer, coons and squirrels and hunting birds with them, is that when you are hunting birds, the dogs arent going apeshit. If you dont have a secluded hunting area designated for dogs, dont run dogs.

Running barking dogs on a property a few times, will frick the real dee hunting up. And running dogs is not deer hunting. Its deer driving. And im fine with driving deer, if its a last ditch effort to put some meat in the fridge. But at least try to go hunt the animal before you have a dog run it out of its bedding area.

As for shooting 3 relatively young, seemingly good genetic deer in a week, no excuse. Especially if he was shooting the smaller ones last. People in south la always talk about not having as good of genetics, but they never let the good bucks live long enough to produce a stock

Otis, that feller would probably be pretty accurate

And to me, real deer hunting is going onto a sizeable property (public or private), scouting, observing, paterning and ultimately harvesting a mature deer. Doing all of this without the aid or game cameras or hunting over unnatural food source
