NWLA hunters should be seeing quite a few more bands if the refuge keeps up what they have been doing. We have gotten 3 in the last 2 seasons. Im not sure if they are only banding woodies there, or different species

We hunted the RR Refuge down around Grand Bayou a bunch one season...maybe 2005ish? We kept on killing banded birds and couldn't figure out why. I think we killed like 4 or 5 in one week.

We did our part for science by calling them in and learning that they were all banded like 2 miles to the North of where we were...and about a week before.

The bands still look good on a lanyard though! For what its worth, the ones we killed were mainly teal and greys...don't recall any woodies.

Had a good friend kill a pair of Specklebellies that were banded with consecutive numbers.

Seems like I remember reading about this somewhere

The banded snow I killed was really old. Forget exactly how old though.

My band killing comes and goes. Had killed 2 by the time I was 15. Had a dry streak till I was about 20 and killed 4 or 5 in 3 years. Haven't killed another in 4 years and haven't hunted less than 40 days any of those 4 years.

0 and have killed close to 1000 birds, hunt in south la mostly.

Talked to a guy few months back that had shot a doubled banded mallard in a pond behind his house. Said that is prob 1 of 20 or so ducks he has ever killed. He put duck in his freezer to have mounted and his dad threw it away while cleaning out freezer not knowing what it was. I was sick when I heard the story.

I killed 3 banded birds. 1 mallard drake, 1 greenwing teal & 1 speckled belly goose.

I also used to tag fish for about 3 years. I caught one of the reds I tagged in the same exact spot where I had released it after tagging about 6 months later.

I caught a tagged red snapper when I was offshore about 6 months ago too.
