I've noticed the laws vary even among Southern states. I travel to Alabama a lot and you can have a concealed gun in your vehicle but it must be unloaded unless you have a permit. In Louisiana you can carry a loaded, concealed gun in your vehicle with no permit.

Alabama has a much simpler permitting process than Louisiana though.

The experts over at Reddit would question your motives as to why you would have an AR-15 pistol in your truck. They think that if you have that or a shotgun, it’s not going to end well for you if you ever have to use it in a defensive situation vs using a handgun.

Actually, I don't care what "Reddit experts" think. I base my decisions on the best available/reliable info I find and my own experience and common sense. I don't have an AR15 pistol in my truck, but I'll always have at least one handgun in it. Having said that, I would agree that the best "defense" is to avoid or escape from a situation before it goes bad. In addition, a vehicle can be a very effective defensive tool.

I’m 29 and I’ve had one in my truck since I was 18. Whether it was a .44 mag, or the LCR .357 I’ve had in there for 9 years. I also have a rough rider 22 in the center console. During hunting season I’ll keep my supernova under the seat loaded with buckshot.

I’m looking at getting a mini Draco for a truck gun soon.

Assuming this is accurate you are good.

YES. Any person who can legally possess a handgun can carry it within a vehicle. However, if you do not have a Texas license to carry or a firearms license from another state that Texas honors then the firearm must be concealed in the glove box, console or other area but not on your person.

They’re not experts and I really don’t care what they think.

I have a Glock 19 beside my right leg until I can get to the AR.

If I’m having to defend my life I want something that is a man stopper

A pistol is not one.

But yes, if I can leave you better believe I will but if I can’t you better damn well believe that whomever picked a fight picked the wrong person.

I really just want to know if an AR-15 pistol or Shockwave type firearms are legal to carry in the vehicle while they’re loaded in AL. It kinda goes back to my thread from yesterday. A coworker tells me it’s illegal to carry an AR-15 pistol because it can’t be “concealed” like a normal handgun. Now today, he tells me the same thing with with the Shockwave. I’ve never heard this before. It makes no since. Especially if I have a CCW. None of my research backs up his claims.

Pistol stays on my person.

I can not find anything about a AR pistol being illegal in Alabama.

You'd have to think if an AR pistol is illegal a Desert Eagle would be as well.

Actually, a guy that post here is from Alabama and build an AR pistol in .22 from an 80% lower.

I work on farms and in rural areas. I roll with a .22 pistol in my console at all times.

...and a G19, unless I'm wearing the G19, and if I am, that means the LC9 is in my console.

The M&P Sport in the floor is for varmints.

Three vehicles, three guns. Legal here of course. Live in a town of 800. S&W 357 in my truck console but I have a holster mounted under the dash should I choose.(1998 2500 Ram Cummins).

I keep a pistol in both of my trucks. I have to ride through Mogadishu frequently. They’re hidden not that it means much. I’ve had numerous LEOs approach me about having one on me.
