If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Don’t see what the problem is with the way it is. I officially vote nay.
Honestly, the reason that the OB works so well is we’re almost a TD within TD. Most of us have like minded interests. Like someone just posted about ostrich boots. That’s certainly not outdoors but that poster knows he’ll get a lot of good info here. That probably belongs on the OT because we don’t have a fashion board, but if he posted this on the OT, he’d be inundated with smart arse responses. I don’t have any knowledge of ostrich boots but the respect that we all have each other, it doesn’t matter to me that he posted it here. I know exactly why he did.
ETA: I see 2 threads on the first page that would be candidates for moving. Is that really too many to justify a completely new board?

I agree with most of the posters who oppose this, Chicken. We ain't the OT here and pretty much, self police this board. My vote is to keep it like it is. As another poster said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." IMHO, the OB ain't broke. Thanks!

You're the boss, but for what it's worth I like my OB just the way it is. Sometimes there are those that start a new thread about lawn care, when it should just be included in the lawn care thread already in process. But all in all, I think we're good. Won't be mad at ya either way

Solution in search of a problem. There’s already a glut of boards. The Book Board is moribund and the OT has been watered down.

I joined this website just the other day because of the OB. I've been lurking for a long time on all the forums, but, again, I joined because of THIS board.
I sometimes wish the OB had MORE topics because of the folks here and the enjoyable dialogue. Honestly, if things slowed down and/or changed drastically, I can't say that I'd stick around for long- not that that matters, but it might be indicative of the bigger picture?
It's such a great board and resource. Why mess with it? But what do I know? I digress.
Hell, rename it the "baw board" and then everyone will know what's up PLUS you can put a TD trademark on it!

Sorry Chicken, but I just don't think this makes any sense. Hell, if you got through the first 3 pages, there are way more posts about vehicles than home or garden. Combine that with the posts about vehicles in the OT, and an Automotive Board seems more appropriate than a Home and Garden Board. Home and Garden just gives you another board like the Book Board...very few posts with any activity for several days.
And I like the Book Board. It's just not a forum I go to every day because it's a niche board.
I don't understand these people complaining about having to read through "all these lawn care posts" to get to "something useful" either.

I agree. All the info on this board is great. The people help each other and get along very well. Now we will have to wade through what color throw pillows to use with a blue couch instead of finding out how to build a table or an awesome lamp.

A name change to this board makes way more sense than splitting it up IMO. But I also don't think a name change is necessary either.

I think you will loose total viewers. I don't have the time to scan multiple boards. The OB mixture seems to appeal to a broad set of people, It is the main reason I visit TD. If you "break up" the OB you will loose a lot the "cross pollination" that is so educational.

I've been here a long time. A very long time. This is one of the last bastions of sanity left here.
The OT has devolved into a cesspool of one liners.
The Tiger Rant needs a murilax enema.
This board has stayed basically the same.
A better use of your time would be focusing on the removal of video ads. I cant browse at work anymore because this site repeatedly will play ads at full volume with zero prompting. Since I need my speakers for work... I just don't come here.
