Let me explain how incorrect you are. It was nice having a civilized discussion before you showed up.
I carry a sig 229 and shoot it at least monthly. More often when I can, which is not all that much lately. If I have to dress up I carry a shield 40 which I shoot every time I shoot the sig. I dry fire the sig probably a thousand times a month, and it sits by my bed with a light on it.
I can tell you right now that half the people I know would not do half of that. They are normal people who realize that the odds of needing to use a gun to defend themselves are slim to none and they spend their daylight doing other things. For those people, a gun that is inherently safe and has no manual of arms beyond pull the trigger, is a very viable choice. A revolver checks all those boxes. I'll go further than that and say that it's better than any glock, which is far easier to ND. Theres many more opportunities for that to happen in normal life than running out of ammo shooting at a bad guy (certainly a possibility for infantry). One is guaranteed to be a consideration, the other is extremely remote.
So, I maintain that for many people a revolver is the best choice of firearm, including many who are toting polymer striker guns. You've been wrong the whole thread and are probably going to continue being wrong.

I ignored pretty much everything after "Let me explain how incorrect you are" because I haven't been wrong yet. You've been wrong for days, but hey, you shoot once a month and dry fire a lot.
I will point out how amusing it is that you continue to think someone with no training should carry a "full size double action revolver in 357 mag." frick hitting anything, right? At least it will go bang at least once, and that's all that matters. That 357 mag going off is the next best thing to racking a shotgun.

You don't even know the difference between can't and won't.

I'm not going to do that because I'm just fine letting you continue to be ignorant.
You have the mind of a child. It's cute sometimes.

You want everyone to know you're not one of those mall ninjas or whatever nonsense you used to describe people who use semi-automatic firearms for self defense.
You argue like one of those duddes who ask to see a receit when people walk out of Walmarts.

Alright. Looking for my first handgun. Just Something I can have for home protection and easy to carry in my vehicle.
So many choices. I guess it’s a matter of personal preference.
Any recs and why would be appreciated. And where would you buy from?
Let's skip the bickering in this thread, go back to useful info.
A big gun shop like Jim's has as much hand's on choices as a gun show, and you don't have to pay admission.
If you are buying NEW, I still say: go to a couple pawn shops and get to know the guys there. Those are still FFL's, and they charge a fee to receive a gun purchased online. The fee is maybe $25 or so, but there are online venders selling guns for way less than the local guys. Ranges also can do transfers too, and usually waive the range.
Regarding new and used- remember, a car is used as soon as it leaves the lot. A gun is used as soon as it leaves the shop. A used gun in good shape is 99% of the value, at maybe 50% of the cost. It's not an iPhone, it doesn't become obsolete until the caliber does

Oh, we're doing that already?
I'll just copy/paste then...

G19, saw it for $555 but I’ll shop around.
Buy that, take a CCW class, then practice, practice, practice.

Wow, thanks for all the responses.
Just slowly starting my shopping. Looking for a range where I might be able to shoot some of these on the Northshore (Slidell to Mandeville). Does Bass Pro have an indoor range where you can test anything?
Today I did look at the G19, saw it for $555 but I’ll shop around.
Also looked at the G43x, a little smaller than the 19 in case I do decide to cc. Any experience with the G43x? A little cheaper at $460
I’m not too worried about price. Want something reliable
Do you happen to be an honorably discharged veteran? You can get a blue label Glock 19 for roughly $400 through Veterans Day. Blue label Glocks are usually only available for law enforcement and retired vets.
You could also check out the G48. It's slimmer than the G19 but only holds 10 rounds. It's about $360.

I'd stay away from the "baby" Glocks like the 43 and 26.
Also, there are still G3 and G4 Glocks out there that would be cheaper. The finger grooves on the grip have never bothered me but lots of people hate them.
And if you can find a fish gill G19, buy it.
